Gregory's Gourmet Desserts - Oakland

Friday June 23rd at 4:30 saying this because I didn't get the rude young man's name. The kids were excited to pick a dessert and didn't read the faded writing on the glass. He threw up his hands and rolled his eyes saying please let us get the desserts for you. Using his finger pointing at every word.No matter how good the food, drinks,or desserts are people won't come back with that Kind of customer service.

Maybe I just went on a bad day. The cashier/other workers were rude and distracted by their phones. I ordered a savory pastry, and they gave me one that had jelly on it from the pastry it was sitting next to. Unfortunately, the bread was mushy and bland. The cookies tasted stale.

Went on a trip with my friends to Monterey and drove up to Oakland to visit some friends for the day. My friend living here took us to Gregory's Gourmet Desserts. The desserts here were so good! It's a very unassuming storefront and quite easy to miss if you aren't looking for it. I would definitely go out of my way to come here.My friends and I got a Snickerdoodle Cookie, Carrot Cake, Key Lime Pie and Peach Cobbler. I thought everything we got tasted very very good! The cookie was a little crispy on the outside but chewy on the inside. The carrot cake was definitely my favorite!! I forgot to take pictures of our desserts..You have to find paid street parking which might be kind of tough in this area. The service is friendly. This is a very small bakery with quick service. There's no place to eat so you'll have to take it with you. I did think it was a bit weird that we couldn't grab what we wanted without assistance but maybe they have a reason for that. We came on a Friday around 5:30 PM and there was no wait. Also not sure if the hours are updated because on Yelp it said it closes at 5 PM but when we asked, they said they close at 6:30 PM. Oh, another thing I noticed, I thought the prices were very affordable compared to other bakeries. My carrot cake slice was $6.30 and was quite big too, other places would have a higher price tag.

I just purchased lemon bars from Gregory’s and they were not close to what I am use to having. They were over cooked to the point of being very crunchy . The bars did not have the right amount of lemon flavor, which is what I love. I am so disappointed.

I had such high hopes for Gregory’s! Wow! I’ve heard such amazing things! I called 4 days in a row to place an order for a German Chocolate cake for my mothers Birthday! LITERALLY each day something happened. 1st day was told to call back, 2nd day no answer, 3rd day was left on hold for 15 mins (yes u timed it because it was my 15 mins break) so i hung Up , 4th was told to call back because there was a line. After all of that i STILL tried! Called back today (Saturday) and the young lady said “I’ll have to check with my head baker so call back Tuesday” … i need The cake for Thursday so I’m taking this as a sign to continue to go to my regular “go to” bakery. I can’t rate them on “taste” because i haven’t had them in a while but what i will Say is this THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE! If it’s this much trouble to order a simple cake then it’s truly a sign that the cake is not needed in my home lol. Hey, you might have better luck but i didnt Have luck with them at all. Literally was a horrible experience. It amazes me that businesses act like you HAVE to spend your money! It was a privilege for me to try the 5 times that i did! I was Trying to give the business money and they said “uhhh uhh get somebody else to do it” lol Really hate this tho because i wanted To try the German Chocolate cake so bad!
