Been here twice now and was delicious both times. Until then I hadn't tried Afghani/ Persian food before but if this is anything to go by I have been missing out!
At my recent visit we had the veggie Ashak (fried dumplings with drizzled with tangy tomato and yoghurt sauces ), Borani Banjan (melt in the mouth eggplant dish) and the Quabeli Uzbeki (tender, falling apart lamb with delicately spiced rice). All dis... View all feedback.
What Rebekah Carroll doesn't like about Rumi Palace:
Fantastic family run Persian Afghani restaurant, while the servings were a little on the small side for the prices, the food was perfect. Using fresh ingredients, frying in clean oil, made with love I couldn’t fault anything here. It was busy with both native Farsi speakers and plenty of Anglo’s, so obviously, the word is out. Thought of having a takeaway afghan food after watching a movie at parade. Menu was pretty short for takeaways. Few items were not available of the takeaway menu. I ordered for Mantoo(lamb dumpling)which was really tasty,Panfried chicken kebab (it dint had any taste which was dissappointing)and chicken korma (which wasnt that bad).Food takes long time to be served on table or for takeaways. Overall not a great experience, but can try once.

All dishes were divine and difficult to pick a favourite. Although it doesn't look like much from the outside - the service and decoration create a wonderful homely atmosphere. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.
Bit of an accident going to Rumi, we actually went to try the new Chinese Restaurant in the Norwood cinema complex, but couldn’t get in! All good, wanted to try this place anyway. Nice décor, friendly staff, although we found it hard to get their attention at times. Started with some dips, which were nice, a little under seasoned, but fixed that with extra S&P! We shared fried dumplings, absolutely yummo and a decent portion! Spiced lentil dahl, now peeps, this is the smallest bowl of dahl for $17 in the history of dahl ordering! Lentils are cheap! We only got a couple of spoonfuls each, full of flavour though. We also had the lamb shoulder, which is a very nice dish, a little dry and mostly bone, it was a small serve for $27? The Ghabli Palaw surrounding the lamb was delicious. The food is tasty, but portions are not large for the price. Would I return? Maybe for the fried dumplings!!!
Small place , but big warm friendly staff, very sincere owners who are in love with their work. We had soups, beautiful exotic flavors generous serving. Exquisite steamed lentil meat dumpings Fall of the bone Lamb shoulder amazing. A slow cooked chicken dish with fragrance rice , im dying of pleasure and then a spinach dish like no other and a Dahl to Dahl for ! This is another rare occasion where i cant fault the food. Thank you for being so passionate about your food
Dumplings and lamb shoulder were amazing. Delicious and fragrant not like the usual Asian and Indian restaurants- and they accommodated our tight time and made sure we got to our movie on time! I'll definitely be back!
