We ordered take-out from this Filipino restaurant when we visited Toronto. The food - from the appetizers to entrees to desserts - is authentic (none of that Asian fusion stuff) and so, so tasty! Kabalen has a wide menu and their prices are reasonable. If you're looking for genuine, delicious Filipino food in Toronto, this is your spot. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Kabalen:
I have been to Kabalen twice in the past, I saw them again during the "Taste of Manila".Enjoyed the "Dinuguan" and "Afritada", a bit of oil, but still with good flavour. The service was fine, they try their best to provide excellent customer service.I think, I enjoyed other Filipino places other than this place. It doesn't have a unique characteristics that allows it to stand out. View all feedback.
I love this place!! It 's a hidden gem in North York providing amazing Filipino cuisine and bbq!! ! If you haven’t heard of this place, you must go and try it! It’s worth the trip, although not too far from downtown Toronto I usually get the kamayan feast which translates to ‘eatwithyourhands’ and that I do! The 'mini feast ' is huge and although they say it feeds 1 2, it 's BIG. It comes with a whole tilapia, mussles, milkfish, prawns, squid bbqchicken and a selection of veggies including okra, eggplant and salad PLUS heaps of tasty rice! It’s all atop of banana leaves used as your utensil. It 's delicious! There’s just something so great about simple authentic food done right! I gave it a 4/5 as I 've found the veggies to be a bit underdone and not as well seasoned/prepared as the other components (grilled/bbq 'd veggies would be great! , and I could use some more heat!! Overall, it 's a great place, and it 's always packed when I go there which speaks volumes! Give it a try!
Kabalen is one of the Filipino restaurants you’ll find located at the corner of Bathurst and Wilson. There style of is from one of the provinces of the Philippines . Let’s start with the food, lots to choose from saucey pork steak to fried chicken Filipino style. They serve combos if you’re on a budget. The food is sitting on steamers, so depending what you order you might want an extra heating. Other wise the food is great. Seating is adequate for two or more. Parking in the plaza ks so good luck finding one or park on the side street. Definitely recommend and will come back.

I've been going to this place for lunch often as it's close to my workplace. I've tried different dishes as they have an extensive variety to choose from. I can honestly admit that I've never been disappointed with the dishes I've tried to date. I've had their menudo, sisig, kare-kare (a fav of mine), Bicol express, pansit and their fried chicken in the skewer, to name a few. There's still more dishes to try. The dishes are flavourful and very tasty. They offer a lunch special with rice, meat dish and a drink that is reasonably-priced. Service is pretty good and the servers are very friendly and polite. Although it is a small place and it can get loud when it's crowded, you can choose to stay and eat or get take-out, If you're Filipino, you should be used to it. Personally I really enjoy this place and will continue going back for the food.
