New favourite sushi in town. The best quality food and good prices. The selection has all the staples. Good alternatives for non sushi friends. But the sushi was all fresh tasting and great quality for all u can eat. Good price for lunch or supper View all feedback.
What Jameson Bernier doesn't like about Miyakoi Sushi:
We went to this restaurant a couple of times since it opened. The first time it was a buffet where you go to serve yourself. The second time they changed it to a weird order what you want and we will bring you the food...in the order we feel like bringing it out. The food came to the table cold, and extremely small portions. We had each ordered dishes and when we asked the waitress for a new sheet to request food, sh... View all feedback.
I have been an AYCE sushi fanatic for a decade now. Visiting family this summer here in NB made me want to test out what the area had to offer. Last week we visited JT sushi and last night, Miyakoi. If you are at all familiar with NB, you would know that it's cuisine options greatly lack, likely due to the demand. There is none. Most locals here dine on low budget options if they eat out at all. Some of my sushi background, I grew up in Montreal, doing regular AYCE sushi. I was spoiled clearly. I visit vancouver regularly to see family, where the sushi is expansive, however limited AYCE, but the best sushi in Canada. Miyakoi did disappoint on many levels. They had clearly just re-painted the place as we dined in strong paint fumes. 2 other couples were seated in the large restaurant along side us. The decor was cute, but clearly done on a tight budget, jersey seat covers over all the chairs for example. The menu was on paper, which is a dying tradition. Most sushi places now use ipads with pictures. I'm not sure where the pictures on tripadvisor came from, but that is NOT the menu. The menu is printed black and white, no pictures. I did like that some items had descriptions next to them though. The food images on here are also not accurate. There were no nice plates or boats. The ginger was a small blob, not a rose. Perhaps there are new owners now? The chop sticks were plastic, which is uncommon for sushi restaurants. They should be wood or metal. Plastic makes picking up difficult. Something that blew my mind, was the presence of forks next to the chopsticks. Not sure yet how I feel about this....The waitress was lovely. The dishes were mediocre. Nothing wowed us but nothing was terrible. We did, however, spend lots of time slicing rice off of the maki rolls, or picking it out from the hand rolls. They used far too much rice. The sashimi was very thin. The rolls were very large. The miso soup didn't taste much like miso should. The ice cream was more ice than cream, almost freezer burnt. I like the deep fried ice cream, which is really just deep fried cake. Nothing impressed but we left full. It is a bit cheaper than JT down the street. You get what you pay for. Miyakoi has nicer and better service than JT. I would not recommend Miyakoi over the other sushi places at this time. It is in my bottom picks of my AYCE sushi chart around Canada so far. Sub-par.
We always love this place! Delicious for eat-in or take-out! Fast and friendly service! Always generous amounts of fish and veggies within the rolls! Definitely try the snow dragon roll! Fair prices for the great food!
I was very excited to try this restaurant, their display for sushi was great, it was served in a boat. However, upon inspecting the dish closer, we noticed that yes, the boat is reusable but there was a build up on food previously served on it. I also took a big drink of water and noticed rings around the plastics cup. I went to see if it was on the outside and unfortunately it was chucks of food that was caked onto the inside of the cup. There was no concern from the staff about the unsanitary conditions. I will not be going back there.
North Bay's best kept secret! We had awesome service and a fantastic meal! We would recommend it to everyone who loves sushi!
No buffet during the holiday season but were still able to order the Chinese food from the menu. Servings were large and tasty. Sushi was ok but not the best I've had. Tasty and fresh though. Lots of options.
