Contribute FeedbackThe Archer has received mixed reviews, with some customers mentioning issues like soggy seafood, dry schnitzel, and inconsistent service. However, many patrons have praised the restaurant for its delicious food, good selection of beers, and friendly staff. Some standout dishes include the salmon on couscous, prawn dumplings, and the Archer Parmy. Despite some negative experiences, The Archer seems to have won over many customers with its tasty meals and welcoming atmosphere.
Love the old building and the layout inside. We enjoyed sitting in one of the booths admiring paintings on the wall which were for sale. It was a fairly quiet time of the day, not many customers at the time we were there yet it took half an hour for the food to come out after ordering. My husband had to leave for an appointment before the food arrived so I took his food home in a take away tray which ended up going in the bin as it was soggy by the time we got there. I was surprised that when ordering a Caesar salad, I was asked if I wanted to pay extra for chicken which I did not as I have always received chicken with my Caesar salad everywhere else that I’ve ordered it. The price of a cranberry juice was quite steep too- $6.40 for one glass! The staff were very friendly and welcoming.
I regularly go to The Archer. The service is great and I really like the selection of rum. The food is very good especially the specials.
Was excited to come here for dinner. Imagine my disappointment when the girl behind the bar was sarcastic and questioning me about my choice of food when I wanted a kids meal for my niece. She proceeded to ask me 21 questions about how old she was and whether I was lying about actually having a niece and if she was even coming. I just felt it was not needed and beyond the job description of a waitress! Apparently the chef is also going beyond his scope of practice in regards to checking about meal choices. Otherwise food and vibes are good! For that, a solid 2/5 stars!
If you are going to the fabulous ‘Van Gogh Alive’ experience or even if you are not! The Archer is conveniently situated next door and we highly recommend it for a meal after. It was early Friday evening when we visited, the staff were welcoming and friendly, the choice of drinks excellent and there was a nice buzz, without too much noise. We had the barramundi and the lamb shank, both were good quality, well prepared and very tasty. A lovely experience!
We found the staff quite unfriendly after work last night. They were blunt and arrogant. We felt like an absolute inconvenience. So much so that we left and went to The Lion hotel where we were greeted with friendly staff and a beautiful meal.
