We stayed at the associated inn and ate at this restaurant twice. The special of the day both times was halibut. it was absolutely perfect. Presentation rivals Manhattan but the food preparation and taste was even better. First time my fish was presented on a bed of wild rice and cranberries, accompanied by turnips and carrots. The flavors could not possibly have blended better. My wife had a strip steak on a bed of b... View all feedback.
What Kevin Krieger doesn't like about The Black Spruce Restaurant:
Ordered the catch of the day which was Halibut w Hazelnuts. The Halibut was dry and overcooked and looked like the dish sat under the heat lamps too long before coming out. Two waitresses came over and asked how it was and I told them it was dry and overcooked. Both waitresses did nothing about it besides say sorry to hear about that. My title sounds a bit extreme but in my experience it is totally accurate. I tried several restaurants in St John's which were all disappointing and a highly rated one in Rocky Harbor. Again not very good. The Black Spruce is located in Neddies Harbor inn and serves dinner to inn guests and is open to the public. The food is as good as any high end restaurant in the States, The quality, creativity, and presentation were top notch. An added perk is the amazing view of the harbor and mountains. Reservations should be made as the restaurant is quite popular.

I am not one to complain about food, but this place is highly recommended and it did not live up to everyones reviews. The restaurant charged me fully for the Halibut and did not give a desert for free. I went to the Sugar Hill restaurant the night before and the appetizer and main courses were delicious. If you are looking for a fine dining restaurant to go to in Norris Point, Sugar Hill is the place to go to.
While staying at the Neddies Inn, we had two dinners at the Black Spruce located in this hotel. Reservation is highly recommended. The halibut and the seafood crepes were particularly good. Good selection of wine. Nice and friendly service.
Within Neddies Harbour inn, this not only has fantastic views but excellent food as well. High quality, interesting food in a pleasant atmosphere with very friendly waiting staff. A little more expensive than the average but worth it. Reservations necessary as it's very popular.
We had a delicious wonderful dining experience our last night in Norris Point at this fine restaurant in Gros Morne National Park. Views from every seat, excellent service, and most of all, the food was very, very special. Creative, taste delights in every course. We enjoyed the mussels with this amazing curry sauce, very interesting and delicious caesar salad, and seafood crepes that were soooo good. A real find for excellent dining in a very unpretentious but beautiful setting.
