I was skeptical after reading some of the reviews, but they must have taken them to heart. the service was fast and accommodating, eating was almost too fast, and eating itself was top notch. the gyoza was amazing, edamame was quite standard, and we had the rainbows and red drachenrolles. The All-you-can-eat deal is a little expensive unless they tend to get more than or roll for a few. if they eat a lot of sushi, th... View all feedback.
What Crystel Doyle doesn't like about Volcano Sushi and China Bistro:
Don't waste your time... I ordered two rolls and tuna tataki.. To go.. They gave me a minute window, however I sat there after arriving on time and sat for another minutes. Once I got the food home I was even more annoyed. They had shoved all of the sushi into a small box, crammed together. The pieces were poorly wrapped so it was almost impossible to pick up with chopsticks. Do not waste your time as I did. There ar... View all feedback.
Ok..... The food and service were good. We had a groupon. I liked it but here are so many places in the area to choose from so unless we have a groupon, we would not return.
Very Disappointed. We had high hopes for this restaurant, as we love the corner location in Ghent, the jazzy decor and the menu. But the food and service were not good, and the piped-in music was a huge distraction. The dirty martini was weak and the pork dumplings came fried instead of steamed she didn't ask and we didn't think to mention steamed). The spicy yellowtail roll was only average. Same with the Godzilla roll. The Smashing Pumpkin roll was just weird. Ho la la beef $13.95) was billed as spicy, but nothing about it was spicy. Rather, it was syrupy sweet and unappetizing. Even the edamame was a disappointment because it wasn't salty. The waitress had only been there 3 weeks and...read more
Loved it!. A friend strongly recommended we try Volcano for their sushi, and we were not let down. I was surprised when the special they brought had sliced strawberries on top, but omg, it's been a week and I'm still thinking about it. We tried six different rolls total, and only one of them I didn't really enjoy. But that was just a texture thing for me. Next time I need to remember to take photographs of everything we try. I am usually more willing to try something I've seen on Urbanspoon if their pictures look appetizing. Hope you enjoy it there as much as I did, and will again!
Customer service and sushi was good, however we were looking for a more upscale Chinese food than the regular places and Norfolk, and they fell short in that regard. Fried rice tasted and felt like it was just seasoned sushi rice that was tossed with vegetables. The Singapore Mein Fun tasted soft and bland. Both dishes had an overwhelming egg taste. TLDR; I'd go here for sushi but not Chinese dishes.

I would bring my friends and family here.
