The restaurant offers vegan options and the food quality is rated 7 out of 10. Prices are higher in the evenings but their lunch special during the week is worth the value. View all feedback.
What WoodyAndBertie doesn't like about Newtown North Indian Diner:
The food is cheap and there's a good choice of vegan curries. It very much a canteen rather than a restaurant with service and décor to match. Recommended for a cheap eat but not a night out. View all feedback.
Vegan dishes, food is a 7/10. On the expensive side of the evenings, but their lunch in the week is good.
I love this place to get a curry and delicious Samosa on my way home from work. It's cheap and hits the spot. Good choice of vegan options as you enter, it is all in display cabinets, which means not wait!
The food is cheap and there is a good choice of vegan curries. It is a lot to fit a canteen instead of a restaurant with service and decor. Recommended for a cheap meal, but no night out.
Until you find Tamanas! While it is not a vegetarian restaurant, it has many milk-free curries available in a buffet style set, the ingredients clearly marked by everyone to make it easy for you. Also no concerns about dishes with ghee (clear butter often in Indian dishes), their website says. TAMANA 'S GUARANTEE: All our dishes are cooked in pure polyunsaturated vegetable oil with natural herbs and spices. We use NO animal fats, artificial preservatives or monosodium glutamate (MSG). All our curries are gluten-free with a selection also milk-free. In addition, they have gluten-free Naan bread. It is cheap informal without table service.. The only thing I think that makes this place down is the entire facility. It is a bit on the shaded side, but they make it with some beautiful traditional artworks on the walls delicious food.
I took a chance and ordered the butter chicken through Uber Eats, and it was absolutely delicious. Before placing my order, I called to inform them that I have celiac disease and asked about their gluten-free options as well as if they use separate cookware. The person I spoke with on the phone didn't provide a clear answer due to a poor connection, but assured me that the marked meals were definitely gluten-free. Next time, I will try calling again to speak to someone more knowledgeable. I appreciate that on Uber Eats, they indicate which items are gluten-free, making it easier for customers like me to order safely.
