What Germaine Cole doesn't like about Kerasma Souvlaki Merchant:
I went to the restaurant with a friend trying to experience a new restaurant and a new kind of food. Everything was right then the waiter just forgot to order the main dish. We were waiting for one hour, starving, and asked about what happened with the food to another waitress and she just told us that it wasn't even in the system our order. A disappointing experience. This place. We were looking for a nice place that was licensed for a birthday lunch and WOW!! Peter is the perfect host and made us feel so welcome. The food is fantastic. Enough said.
If you are after traditional greek food (well cypriot greek food) this is the place to go. Located on the bustling King Street, the restaurant has a great vibe, with traditional greek music playing softly in the background and the charcoal grill cooking away. The service is always friendly and fast! The menu offers a variety of delicious meat and vegetable dishes, salads, and dips - from mezze style cooked on the charcoal grill to delicious mixed pocket pitas. The mezze meal per head is what we choose, as you get to sample the restaurant's best dishes. The Chef aka the Souvlaki Merchant (Peter) has a passion for food and always prepares a special dish or dessert for the day. This week was the sesame crusted haloumi. It blew me away, the sesame crust really complimented the soft haloumi cooked inside, which melted in my mouth! The dessert menu is something else! I have been several times, but always return to the lemon olive oil cheesecake. Hard to get my hands on the recipe, as it is the Chef's own creation. But of course, the famous loukoumades (drizzled in nutella or honey syrup) are also a favourite. The wine list is also fantastic, my favourite is the Round Two Cab Sav, which goes well with anything on the menu!

Haven't been here in ages and I don't know why it's absolutely amazing and I will definitely becoming a regular the food speaks for itself! Also Peter the owner had time to have a bit of a chat which was nice :)
We went here with a group of 4 for dinner on a Friday night. Food was lovely, and mostly good value. Highlights included the Anthous (zucchini flowers), Koubes, Tavas Lefkaritikos and the Loukemades. Only downside is we felt really really squashed in and weren't very comfortable so can't imagine coming with a group larger than 4! Service was friendly and efficient and staff were comfortable making recommendations on drinks and traditional dishes (always a plus :-) )
