Contribute FeedbackNewport Beach restaurant disappointed diners on Christmas Eve with bad service and an unwillingness to extend its real estate rental, leaving customers feeling let down. Roys, on the other hand, experienced some service mishaps but loyal customers enjoyed their final meals there before it closed. Ruth's Chris offered a great dining experience for both new and returning customers, with excellent service, delicious food, and a nice ambiance.
The service was exceptional. Our waiter wrote my order correctly on his pad, but another Entreè entered the computer so I had to wait for my meal. The food was delicious and well prepared with an exception. The Mahi Mahi Mahi of my son was overcooked and let the first attempt dry. The second attempt was better, but still a little overboiled, but we didn't want to wait any further. It should be sauteèd and then finished in the oven. It seemed that the cook went a little too far browned the fish. The manager has taken steps to satisfy us so that our overall experience was excellent.
We have dined at various Roy's locations across the country and have always been impressed, but our recent experience left much to be desired. Our server mistakenly brought my husband a whisky coke cocktail instead of the Captain Morgan Rum and Coke he had ordered, claiming they didn't have Captain Morgan (which they did). When my dinner arrived, I had requested all sauces on the side due to dietary restrictions, yet the butterfish still came with sauce on it. The waitress explained that they always bake the sauces on the fish, but she brought extra sauce on the side as well. The bathrooms were also very dirty, which leads us to believe there may be a management issue. Overall, we were very unhappy and disappointed with our visit.
My experience at Roy's for Christmas dinner was the worst meal I have ever had. The prix fixed menu was disappointing and did not meet my expectations.
My family had dinner at Newport Beach on Christmas Eve. Surprisingly, the server was told us that the last hours of the restaurant this night due to its inability to extend its real estate rental. Well, this short-term attitude was reflected in terrible service, lack of liquor marks, timing between course services, etc. It took 2 1/2 hours to dinner What a ruined evening. I have been a regular customer at the Newport Beach site for many years and I am disappointed in this treatment. At least I should get a refund for my $350 dinner. You can never compensate my family for a spoiled Christmas Eve.
We have been dining at Roy's Newport since it first opened, so we were saddened to hear that it will be closing. The food has always been fresh and delicious. During our last visit last week, the food was still good, but we noticed that the service was not up to par. It seemed like they had some temporary staff working to serve the last few days before closing.
