What User doesn't like about The Fastnet Pub:
I visited this restaurant on Thursday night to catch up with friends. Given that it was a weekday and outside of the busy season, I was pleasantly surprised by the decent number of patrons. Even when we left at 9:00, the atmosphere remained lively... View all feedback.
Casual and friendly pub. We took our group almost elsewhere when we arrived at 5:00, the TV volume was much too loud to talk to each other. We tried the outdoor terrace, but not better. Thank you for starting a live Irish music session and making the visit lovely.
Only a few beers were here, but the bartenders were great and attentive. It is a fun place where the girls enjoy their football (aka football for us Americans).
Stopped in for breakfast and returned for some great music that evening. Best atmosphere in Newport. Large seating area in the bar, and an even larger outside seating area. I recommend stopping by for food and Irish drinks.
Lively watering hole in the summer. This is an old New England joint so don?t expect anything fancy, from the food to the service. The owners and servers are friendly though usually hard to flag down. Great beer battered onion rings. Unsure if there is actual table or drink service outside in back as I?ve been told to go back there a number of times and never once saw anyone but locals playing games and smoking cigarettes. Cozy in winter. A place to get drunk, and not too cheaply. Irish bangers and mash were ok, but the mashed potatoes were of questionable origin/ preparation. A cool landmark to visit it Newport, but nothing to cry over if you miss it. Irish music Sunday evenings.
