I’ve been a local in the shed now for many years and I’ve never come away feeling dissatisfied. I’ve probably tried everything on the menu, the Steak pie or Gammon chips and egg are my absolute favs. Today however I went for a Roast Beef dinner and it did not disappoint View all feedback.
What Helen M doesn't like about Marsh Head Cafe:
We visited with friend on a Saturday night we had booked in advance and when we had visited before for drinks the food always looked lovely so decided to go for a meal. It was a bit disappointing when we were given the menu to then be given a long list of food that wasn’t available. Not very good for a Saturday evening. Mostly what was available was the burger which I have to say was one of the nicest I have had but... View all feedback.

I 'm very, very disappointed. I have used the venue on many occasions for both food and drink, since it originally opened and I have always been happy with the meals I received. My last visit was a complete 180. All the meals that were ordered and received by my pary were disgusting. The fish, in particular, was 95% batter and had clearly been fried multiple times. It disintegrated into a pile of overdone batter. The gammon received was far too salty, and the roast dinner was cold. The cherry on top, we were offered condiments, we requested vinegar only, and the response was we have run out. There is a convenience store 50m walk away, go and buy some! The venue was also freezing cold. There would have been little difference if we had eaten outside! Total rubbish, avoid, avoid, avoid!
It advertises as ‘Unique’. Yep no disagreement there. Maybe slightly Marmite ish. May I suggest it is geared towards a young middle aged clientele, especially with the drinks, loud music, and range of food. I have been labelled a ‘grumpy, old, man’. Yet I loved it. Within that context, if you wanted to converse with invited company, it can be a touch awkward, and we were there for lunch. Elsewhere, I have rated a place 3*, because I struggled to chat. But this place just can’t be anything other than 5*. We were just passing, waiting for the traffic lights to change, and spotted it. What a fortunate find. For 2 slightly more senior folk than anyone else there, we asked to share a chicken wrap. Firstly the front of house guy could not have been more accommodating. Even put the chilli sauce in a small bowl as my wife likes it, I don't. Secondly, the food hit the spot. I bet there is someone out there who also immediately popped a chip in, and found it too hot, thus complaining. Not me. Loved the chips anyone who does real (double fried) chips instead of the cop out fries gets my vote. Unfortunately it is not near by for us. But we shall return. It is worth the effort. PS note to front of house, with 2 tellies showing different sports, would subtitles help to follow it ?
The Shed is a regular destination for us for both drinks and food and we feel so lucky to have a place that serves such delicious food walking distance from our home. We went tonight for a birthday meal, 4 of us in total and it was nice and quiet as midweek and early doors with a few tables eating and only a handful of drinkers. The draught beer list is superb we enjoyed the Beavertown Neck Oil, Camden Lager, Camden Pale Ale and Estrella. There is also a good choice of gins and cocktail options. For food we ordered starters and mains House Nachos and Tandoori Chicken Bites were both so tasty and served very quickly. Mains were 3 OG Burgers and the Smothered Pork Loin. We all said the OG Burgers were superb, as good as we've tasted anywhere and the Pork was delicious and filling too. All meals arrived quickly and piping hot. Added to this the service was friendly and welcoming, checking that we had everything or need more drinks and that everything was ok throughout.
