Great food and beautiful dining room covered in a mural by a local artist. Unbeatable selection of draft beers and our service was above and beyond. The building is a grand old brickpile, formerly the Glidden farm. Parking: There's auxiliary parking in an upper lot behind the building, follow the drive leading uphill from the main lot. Entrance is on the Academy Hill St. side of the building, the door without steps l... View all feedback.
What Stuart Feldpausch doesn't like about Newcastle Publick House:
Used to regularly visit NPH, it’s been a while since we moved away but coming back I was not impressed with the menu changes.Flavors were similar but portions and prices were absolutely OUTRAGEOUS 16$ for 4 oysters and my 34$ sheparda pie entree was served in the same dish as a 12$ French onion soup. A meal that I used to take home half of has turned into an appetizer portion. No plans to return. View all feedback.
Great spot. Great people. Menu rocks and is reasonable. If you're near it, get in there.
Great food! I don't usually like chicken wings, but the chicken wings here have made me a convert!! I'm craving them a week later. And the ranch dressing is really a special thing.
Good the other night but the chefs at inconsistent. Wait staff is friendly but sometimes inattentive. Parking: Tough to park on open mic night.
I went for the first time to Oysterhead Lounge which is part of the Newcastle Public House but sort of separate also. It's a lounge upstairs that has live music and events and a separate bar from the restaurant. I went for open mic night and it was really fun! They had a really awesome open mic setup. There were lots of jams and the local camaraderie vibe was pretty awesome. There's also a small pool table room off of the lounge. It's a fairly small space so it gets pretty crowded. I got the haddock sandwich which was delicious. The bartenders weren't the friendliest but they were rude either, maybe just busy or having an off night. Vegetarian options: They had a tempeh Reuben and vegan meatloaf on the menu Parking: Parking at restaurant
Always good, always friendly and fast. The oysters are incredible. Get a reservation early if you want to be sure of seating, since also always full. We usually reserve a full month in advance and have managed to get a table by the window, great to look out on the quaint New England town.
