After 25 years of searching for the perfect Peking duck since my hometown’s best Chinese restaurant closed when the owners retired, I finally found it at Chef Huang. I've tried duck in Alexandria, San Francisco, and even Beijing, but none compare to the flawless preparation here. The paper-thin pancakes, hoisin sauce, green onions, and especially the duck—with its crispy skin, rich fat, and perfectly roasted meat—are absolutely outstanding. I'm glad I didn't discover this place earlier on my trip, or I would have come back every night. The service is quick and attentive. The dining room is clean, though the décor feels oddly both sterile and gaudy. Still, the exceptional food more than makes up for any shortcomings. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3

The dishes at Chef Huang are delicious with a subtle modern flair! The lamb skewers were our top pick, closely followed by the Peking duck. Each dish was full of flavor, and our food was served quickly. Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4 Meal: Lunch Price per person: $30–50
