Swagat, located at 411A Amsterdam Avenue, offers a charming and intimate dining experience with some of the best Indian food in the city. The restaurant boasts delicious dishes like lamb vindaloo and authentic Indian cuisine made from scratch. The service is excellent, and the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. While some other Indian restaurants in the area may be disappointing, Swagat stands out for its fine food and professional service. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply craving some delicious Indian cuisine, Swagat is a must-visit spot that won't disappoint.
The food at this restaurant is delicious and the service is excellent. The atmosphere is casual and the owners are very welcoming. Everything is made from scratch and the Indian cuisine is truly authentic. We look forward to dining here again.
A better than average store front Indian. Food is excellent, there's a reason why they pack you in on a Saturday night! Bonus celebrity siting: Billie Jean King with overcoat on at a table next to the front door on a cold night.
I visited Swagat in July 2023 for dinner and opted to dine outside. While the staff could have been more friendly as they seemed a bit impatient and put pressure on us when ordering, the food was delicious and reasonably priced for the area. We ordered SAMOSA CHAAT, LAB PASANDA, GARLIC NAAN, and MANGO LASSI for two, which was just the right amount. I would recommend Swagat to anyone in the area looking for tasty Indian cuisine.
My friends and I visited Swagat during our weekend trip to New York City to catch a show at the Beacon Theater. The restaurant is conveniently located nearby and we were impressed by the food and service. It was clear that they also have a busy takeout business, as delivery drivers were constantly in and out. The Vindaloo we ordered was excellent, but the standout for us was the naan bread - it was absolutely delicious. Overall, we highly recommend Swagat as a must-try spot.
