I got luck and came on a Thursday.. the oyster fried po boy is the best! The roast beef one is good too but if I had to pick, I like the oyster one better.. I recommend this place.. the French bread was very good View all feedback.
What Nolanavy Mom dislikes about Parkway Tavern:
For the first time in many years I was disappointed with my po-boy today. I went with my neighbors who ordered, then I ordered. My order was ready quite quickly so I just waited for my friends order to come before I started eating. When they got theirs, we noticed my fried shrimp po-boy was half the size of theirs, both were dressed. I probably did not have 10 shrimp on my large. I probably should have taken it back,... The schrimp po boy was absolutely amazing. the brot was crispy on the outside and still soft on the inside. the shrimp was perfectly crispy and chewing. the.
In a living style, this long standing gem awaits. be careful, the line could be long, but it's worth waiting. I can't say.
Sat for the special (the james brown) and was blown away. also tried the shrimp bo'boy and it was surprisingly easy to get ok. definitely worth a visit. that was it.
AMAZING food!!! Large and easy free parking. Dog friendly on patio only. Huge Patio to eat under with fans. Can eat inside or outside. Order inside. Restaurant access is near the patio outside and bakery connected to restaurant. Brett P. Waited on us from the Bar and we ate under the patio with tons of shade. Clean and the bathrooms were clean too. No water around sinks because someone was actively tending to it. Overall great service. Friendly staff. Clean place. Easyparking. Best of all Dog Friendly. Oh yes and this place has been around since 1911. Very historical. We loved our NOLA IPA, **** Mary, and James Brown sandwich. We each got a large but ate the first half before taking the pic. Bread wasphenomenal. We actually came to NOLA specifically to visit this restaurant.
Great atmosphere, service, and food. The fried gulf shrimp Pol boy sandwich was stuffed with shrimp! Dressed with lettuce, tomatoes, and mayo on a warm, hard crust roll. The shrimp was perfectly seasoned and fried to perfection. They did not hold back on the amount of shrimp and generous portions. The coleslaw is made daily, and it tasted creamy and fresh. The fries were crispy and lightly salted. The atmosphere was great. Decorated with nostalgic pictures of Parkway Bakery. Indoor and outdoor seating. And I must add, the bathroom was very clean!
