What Berenice Bayer doesn't like about Hobarts @ Wests New Lambton:
For a big club you would expect the menu to be a little less expensive for members. This and the meals not much better then a pub feed left the experience some what ordinary. The only thing that stood out was the decor and the staff. Cant see the family returning again. View all feedback.
We met with some friends and suggested Lure for a seafood night. The battered oysters were excellent, the Hapuka cooked perfectly and everybody else enjoyed their dishes liek the seafood risotto as well. Friendly and professional service and a great wine list add to a great night out.
We have often thought about trying this restaurant which is part of the Wests Lambton Club. We had dined at the Chinese and the Chophouse and both had been good. We tried Lure recently on a Friday night. We booked online. When we arrive only a few tables had diners. We were met professionally and sat near the window. We started with Oysters mornay and a King Prawn starter. Both were good quality and flavoursome. For mains my partner had seafood risotto. It had prawns and Fish pieces - it was ok but not outstanding - quite bland I had the whole snapper which was flash fried. It came with a fennel salad and I ordered a side of kifler potatoes. The fish was overcooked and dry which was disappointing. Dessert was a butterscotch pudding which was a muffin looking cake with butterscotch sauce and a few accompaniments which weren't inspiring. Definitely not worth the $17So it was a mixed experience. Not cheap and with wine at $15 per glass it's a little expensive. Not likely to return. Will try other seafood restaurants before returning to Lure. One thing which was upsetting was near the end of our meal a couple were seated nearby. They were loud and using inappropriate language. We finished up our meal and left. It would have been better if staff had addressed this poor behaviour so that other diners didn't have to listen to it.
I have dined here twice, and both times exceeded expectations. The platter in enormous, more than one person can eat, and quality absolutely top notch.
If i could give 10 stars for service i would! our waiter on Saturday 29th of April was beyond amazing!!! nothing was too hard and he was just lovely. (unfortunately didn't get his name)if we lived closer would certainly visit more often because service is something you don't get like that very often! food was also great!! excellent price for seafood (compared to Sydney)
I keep coming back to this restaurant for the seafood. Great variety of seafood, well done and tasty food. Great service, staff all very nice and helpful. I had the seafood plater and was delicious I was too full couldn't not have dessert which I was looking forward, next time. Really recommend. Only open for lunch on Fridays but open for dinner everyday. Bookings recommended. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
