The food was excellent. The atmosphere was warm and kind. Not typical to my travel to other french restaurants. No English but very kind!

We looked around Nevers last night and this looked very traditional and regional fare was abundant on the menu. They have a novel idea about ordering food which is they hand you a small blackboard and chalk and tell you to write your own order. They are happy to discuss any menu items and our waitress spoke some English which helped. The €14.70 evening menu had plenty of selection for us both, but I have to say we both cried off the Andouilletes (tripe sausage) and the calf's head. Gently smoked herring with warm boiled potato and salad was a gorgeous starter and my wife's goats cheese, gently toasted was a winner too. Softy me had a merguez pizza (really good) and my wife had an amazingly flavoursome steak for an additional €1.60. She had medium which was pink all through, but given the flavour, about perfect. The piece de resistance was the sweet. Cherry tart for my better half and apple tart for me. Both were heaped with fruit and couldn't be bettered. The house red was well selected and suited us well. Pleasant service throughout even when the restaurant filled up. Our bill was calculated from our original blackboard and at around £35 including tip I'd have to say this was exceptionally good.
Excellent welcome from the boss and the boss. The waitress is also in small care. Menu at 14,70€ in the evening: with entrance, dish and dessert. The head of the calf is excellent as the grilled and homemade cake. It is a real restaurant where dishes are filled: no modern kitchen where the ciron navigates between colors. When we leave this place, we're not hungry anymore. Good family atmosphere, practical and fast service. Nothing negative. We have to get here early because there's a world. To be recommended.
Restaurant that works old and that makes its charm, the kitchen is good and generous, the boss and the boss are charming, the prices are very reasonable; to absolutely test if you pass in the Nevers region
