What Oscar Thomas doesn't like about Auberge Du Chasseur:
I come here because it's close the place I work. The service is good and it's easy to find a parking. The lunch menu is the same every week. So I don't recommend to go there too often. If you like horse meat, you will like the place. You also have the Perch filets and some other simple dishes. I never come here for dinner so I can't tell you about it. I recommend to come for a simple lunch menu and it's not too expen... View all feedback.

Very popular restaurant outside Neuchatel. Speciality is 'sur ardoise', any form of meat you would like. We visited today because the game season has started and they prepare interesting delicious dishes, we recommend it. And I love the 'help yourself salad bar' and delicious bread! One very important note. The owners are wonderful people, the staff is v polite, courteous and helpful. Good choice of local wines. We had a great evening!
The Auberge du Chasseur is a beautiful house converted into a multi-level restaurant and also has a street level eatery with the restaurant upstairs. The restaurant has 2 levels with one of them boasting a large patio that is set during the summer months and on appropriate days with the Swiss mountains and the mountains around Neuchatel and the Lac de Neuchatel. The restaurant is a pleasant 20 minute drive up from Neuchatel itself and in a small village and overlooks the fertile farming and grazing area around village Fontaines. The service felt like we were very welcome. The very professional and personable waitress was quite happy to switch between English for me and Swiss French for my colleagues and sometimes a combination of both as I mangled almost every non-English word I tried to pronounce. Asparagus were in season and were the special of the restaurant for the time being. We had a range of choices from seafood to a wonderful section of steaks, cooked at your leisure on a hot-rock right on front of you. There is a salad bar that had free-flow fresh vegetables as you wished. The bread was so good you risked eating only that and filling up. Of course, the beer, a local brew, was outstanding and just perfect for a Friday lunch with friends and work colleagues after a long hard week, just to give you that last bit of energy to push through to the end of the working day. The food was served in perfect time, no pressure to hurry up, but you didn't have to wait either. The restaurant also has a car-park, something you don't see very often in Europe and certainly makes it easy to decide to visit. My colleagues swear the restaurant and the staff are always this good, this friendly & welcoming and the food always fresh, perfectly portioned and always tasting wonderful. The scenery is beautiful and serene, very relaxing and a wonderful place to stop in the countryside of Switzerland to relax and to enjoy a meal. if i am back in Neuchatel, i will definitely come back and visit again.
