The restaurant was uncomfortably cold, feeling more like being outdoors. The chairs were very old and kept breaking, requiring us to switch chairs three times. It was disappointing. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Oceanside At The Pier:
Norman was a fantastic server! His attitude was welcoming, down-to-earth, and professional. The food was amazing and we enjoyed a sea view. The restaurant had clean and beautiful decorations, as well as a cool fish tank. The rice was a bit overcooked, but that was not a big issue. We will definitely return! The music selection was also great. View all feedback.
I'll get straight to the point: Pros: The location has a nice view of the beach. Cons: I don't know if it was the dim lights, the service or the night we went but I expected more. The service was not great at all. The waitress we had that night appeared as if she didn't want to be there. On top of that, she didn't inform us of the specials they had that night yet we heard another waitress across the room telling another table of the specials! The pizza was too salty and my boyfriend's Vongole looked unappealing and lacked flavor. I will not be returning.
This restaurant has been closed for months with no plans to reopen. The owner has another restaurant in Cranston called Cucina Rustica. It is a good Italian restaurant but cannot match the location of Oceanside at the Pier in Narragansett. We were told they were having problems with the landlord and moved out. Unfortunate.
The best part about this restaurant is the view and location. You can't beat a spot on the ocean. It was a little confusing on how to enter the restaurant. The front steps leading up to the outdoor seating were blocked. I went into the hotel below to ask how to enter the restaurant and was told to walk around the building and go all the way around. Once I found the entrance, I was greeted right away. We wanted to sit outside for our Sunday brunch but there were not enough tables with umbrellas, so we sat inside. We were the only table seated inside. The food was fine. The crows nest was a hit at my table. I ordered an omelet with no cheese. It came with cheese but we had waited so long for our food to arrive, that I just picked around it. The service was pretty bad. We all ordered coffee and water which is pretty standard at breakfast. Our server did not come around to offer refills--we had to seek somebody out. We were the only table! Like I said before, our food took so long to come out that I did not dare return my omelet for fear that I would not get anything to eat at all.
We stumbled upon this beachy place after walking back to our inn because they had a live guitarist playing and he looked like one of our friends from back home. They have a decent cocktail list. Some are served in mason jars. I had the strawberry basil cocktail it was fresh but maybe too pulpy to be considered perfect drink-itude. They also have 8 to 10 beers on tap. The first time we went, we ordered the salmon cakes and they were delighful. 2 burger-sized fried concoctions with spicy mayo and a tiny after thought dolop of remoulade. I was hoping for more remoulade, but oh well. The next day on our way back from the beach we stopped in again. Different guitarist, and we ordered the fried calamari. It was quite spicy since it's served with rings of hot peppers. I wish they would have fried the peppers in the same way that the calamari was. The hostess was decent. She sat us quickly outside on the deck but there was a delay in when a server decided to talk to us. I can see why the average rating is a 3 possibly because of the service) I liked the food and drinks enough to bump it to a four. Note: They allow well behaved pups on the deck.
Excellent breakfast. Food cooked just right, large portions. Ample amount of perfectly done bacon. Had the Oceanside special which I think was a good deal.
