The restaurant is simple yet pleasing and the service has been friendly. A frequent place for lunch and our lunch is always great. We will come back to try more samples of the menu. The store is a great place for asian cuisine supplies and our favourite tea. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Tintin:
The $15 price for a large bowl of pho is already quite high. Pho is always my first choice when trying a new restaurant, but unfortunately this time the experience was disappointing. The broth was decent, but the accompaniments were lacking. There was no basil, only a tiny piece of lime, no jalapeno, and a sparse amount of beef. The service was also subpar with no ice or water refills, just a quick rush to collect pa... View all feedback.
Finally I found a place in Nanaimo for Bahn Mi! They make them at a counter by the til and they are pretty decent.

I'm stuck between 3* and 4* rating, but can't think why I don't give an unreserved 4*.1. Would I go again? Sure! location is good (for me -- close to the Uni.and many friends), though it's in an un-prepossessing location The price is right. The food is pretty good. It's a slam-dunk "regular".2. OK ... what's wrong? Nothing much! I think my problem is that I have been to Hanoi and Saigon and experienced Viet cooking in hi-end hotels and restaurants. Now, the proprietors are from Hanoi, and maybe they don't quite match my culinary expectations, high as a result. The Pho 'juice' perhaps lacks some authenticity -- is it out of a container of pre-made, commercial container?3. The restaurant is simply furnished but clean and pleasant. The service is friendly, maybe a little slow at times, but it seems they're a Mom-and-Pop operation and I can easily forgive them this.4. These are hard-working, good, honest folk, and I will continue to support them. 5. I have never failed to enjoy coming here for a tasty, could-be-quicker, excellent value meal. 6. Don't come for the Vietnamese orchestra, the fine art accoutrements or the ambience ..... come for good, honest food at very reasonable prices.
You will not be disappointed with the fantastic prawn or chicken lettuce wraps here. Vicky is one of the owners and is very attentive to details. We ordered their lettuce wraps for a party and everyone raved about them. Their prices are very, very reasonable.
This is a great find somewhat off the beaten track. A variety of menu options-the soups we had were truly meals at minimal cost. Despite the spartan decor the service was excellent and the food delicious.
