Ricky's All Day Grill - Nanaimo

Whenever we need a good lunch thats convenient, this is our go to place. Food is always good and servers friendly. The only negative is that sometimes the amount of time from the order until you receive your food is too long.

I have eaten at Ricky's locations for years but do not recommend this location! I recently ordered a clubhouse sandwich at othis location. The menu provides choices for the style French fry sides. One would think this is an attempt to be specific on what they will provide? So I chose the "Skin On Fries". To my surprise the fries provided looked like they had grabbed some frozen fries and warmed them up, No Skin On Fries! The fries were covered in small greasy bubbles on a "No Skin" surface, once again No Skin On Fies. I thought it was a mistake so I notified the waitress and they explained that's what you get! I couldn't eat the misrepresented product and had to also waste the gravy. I looked online for images of Ricky "Skin On Fies" from other locations and showed the employees what the product looks like. No one offered to take them away or remove them from the bill. I asked for the manager and it was explained that the manager is usually not there and customers usually leave unhappy when they have concerns. I notified the Ricky's organization and only received an email from the Nanaimo owner claiming that someone there actually was the manager. I guess the employee didn't know that! No promise to change their behaviour or offer refund for the portion of misrepresented food.

We have been to Ricky's 3 times in the last few weeks and every time we have not been disappointed. Sometimes the service is slow and that does not seem to be related to whether or not the restaurant is busy. Tonight we had a fairly long wait just to get our drinks ordered and it was nearly empty. However, the time between ordering our food and receiving it was fair. We all enjoyed our dinners although the fish tacos could have had a bit more fish! Always tasty and plentiful we had to take some with us as we were full. A reliable family favorite and reasonably priced.
