We were recommended the L'Umbria by the property we were staying in. We ordered a charcuterie selection for first course, followed by 2 burgers the house special) and a steak. The menu was very limited, pizza are only available certain nights, which we were aware of. The charcuterie selection turned out to be a tiny selection, and at 30€ the most expensive we had in the 2 weeks of our holiday. The brioche buns were dry and the frites with each meal had either been re cooked and burnt, or just plain burnt; they were inedible. We speak passable French, and the young girl serving also seemed embarrassed at the food. She didn't seem to be a family member) .It was noticeable that the local families had un burnt frites. It was also our most expensive meal in the whole 2 weeks, despite being basic fare. The following night we went to St. Florent and had a superb local Corsican meal for a fraction of the price we paid at L'Umbria. A big disappointment which took the shine of our otherwise fantastic holiday. We don't like being ripped off.
We had been for a long walk round the village and wanted a modest lunch. Restaurant l'Umbria was just right for us. I had a pizza with a local beer and my wife was able to get a lovely salad to suit her preference, even though not on the menu; this was accompanied by a great value local wine. All in all a terrific little restaurant great decor and exceptionally helpful staff.
