The service was very unfriendly like "I hate it to work here". It took more than 30 minutes to get our drinks and bread and butter took even longer. Also our neighbours with two young kids said it took more than an hour to get very dry fish sticks with bad fries. Our Schnitzel was very dry too and came without anything with it (no Preiselbeeren or lemon). When we saw how the service "cleaned" the table we were not ve... View all feedback.
Definitely the worst restaurant experience in years and the worst ever in Germany. And I'm a little satisfied anyway. The service is really bad and unfriendly. White wine was warm, appetizer OK but Wienerschnitzel was something really strange. The first attempt was cold and the second was unfriendly served as a vague pile of meat, flour and fat. But if you like something like that and expensive, so what. Awakening, Munich and Germany, Is this really the image you want to give at the airport?
I'll keep it short and simple .. the robot (genuine), offered a slightly more engaged and hospitable welcome. Whole offering should be banned, but alas it offers the bare most economic requirements travellers want, so it will live on !!
When in Munchen, order the schnizel! Having read the poor reviews we were cautious but we decided to stay at the Novotel for drinks and snacks. Our server was friendly and lovely, we chose the beer and German wine and split the schnitzel and potato salad. Our drinks and food were great and reasonably priced (the rest of the menu was quite expensive).
The Novotel Munich Airport touts the Flave as its place to come to eat where you can see the dishes being prepared in front of you. OK, fair enough, it 's a pity though it doesn 't say anything about the quality of the food and the service... I stayed at the Novotel for 3 nights and since there was nothing else close by, I was condemned to the Flave... Let me share my experiences... 1. Food quality The first evening I had an Angus burger. Should be rather straightforward, no? The burger was grilled to the consistency of shoe leather and the fries were lukewarm and soggy. The day after I had a Big Salad for lunch, which was, as advertized a big bowl of lettuce with strips of beef, unfortunately grilled until they had the consistency of beef jerky. The dressing was limited to one table spoon on top, leaving the rest to be very leafy indeed... That night the dinner with a filet of beef was properly done. The last night I wanted something simple, like a schnitzel, but that wasn 't possible. Once a year they have a special evening whereby the restaurant was transformed into a disco with the appropriate jungle music and the menu was reduced to a list of 6 items, calibre snack food. Mind you, I 'm in a hotel where I have to pay EUR 180/night, so you 'd think I might be entitled to a proper meal... 2. Service Service is an unknown word here. Most of the time I had to wait 5-10 minutes or more to talk to any of the staff. When I was so brazen to try and draw attention to myself, I was put in place with comments like I 'm busy now with an accompanying look that made it clear I was completely out of line... Another thing which was really annoying was the way management treats its personnel. The one time I had lunch, the only waiter in the bar was a friendly young man, but he had no clue. I ordered a Sauvignon Blanc, he didn 't know what that was (he explained it was his first day at the job in the bar/restaurant) and had to go ask. When I asked for some additional dressing for my very green salad, he didn 't know what a dressing was... He went away to ask and came back with ketchup and mayonnaise... I told him I wanted the same salad dressing and after 5 minutes he returned saying that nobody knew what I meant, but that the cook did, so now he had the right dressing. To finish I said (after another 10 minute wait for him to show again after I finished my meal) that I wanted to charge the lunch to my room. He looked at me and said that he didn 't know if that was possible... So he left again and came back with a colleague who helped him out. This was not the fault of the waiter, he did what he could do, but I see this as a serious shortcoming of management: it is simply not done to drop a new employee into a situation like this without proper training and an experienced colleague nearby.
I had a dinner here as I landed pretty late and I did not want to move from the hotel. The food and the beer were nice and the service very kind and fast. Recommended.
