I highly recommend this establishment as a fantastic place to stay. The staff is wonderful and our room was spacious, well-lit, and incredibly comfortable. The view overlooking Mount Gambier is stunning, and if you're up for a little adventure, you can easily walk from the motel to see the Lakes. In my opinion, this hotel is not up to par. I will be contacting corporate traveler about my concerns. It is currently 3am and I have been woken up three times by loud banging in the walls. I am not impressed. The room I am staying in is very basic and feels more appropriate for a miner than a corporate traveler. It is in desperate need of renovations as it feels like something out of the 1980s. View all feedback.

My husband and I recently stayed at The Lakes Resort Motel. Our first night was ruined by the inconsiderate behavior of the guests in the room next to us. However, after bringing our concerns to management early the next morning, we were promptly upgraded to a quiet and private room. While the furnishings in the motel are a bit worn, the bed was comfortable, the water was hot, and the room was clean. The restaurant at the motel, which operates independently, is a great addition. The dining area is spacious and well-organized with a fantastic view and a pleasant atmosphere. The young female chef who prepared our meals during our stay was exceptional and cooked us wonderful breakfasts as well. The server in the restaurant was also efficient, friendly, and deserving of praise. We encourage the locals to support this restaurant.

It was a little awkward getting meals while staying here as you can't charge to your room as different people run the restaurant and motel. Limited menu, but quite tasty. Great views over the city.
The ambience of the restaurant is poor. Too much lighting and the decor is like a 1980s motel.Service was OK. although the place was empty until half way through our meal. I had lamb which I didn't like much but maybe it was my fault for not reading the menu properly. I expected a hunk of lamb not shredded meat with wheat of some sort. The glazed carrots were very good and the potatoes well cooked and a pleasant change from chips. My wife had the duck and liked it whilst my son was non commital over the snapper but it looked OK.The problem is the price: with beers and cider at up to $11 for a bottle, wine $9 a glass and mains $30-36 but one needs to also order side orders of veg ($6.50) to make the meal complete. Whilst the chef had tried hard to move his food upmarket for Mt Gambier it didn't quite match the price and lousy ambience. But at least this restaurant tried which is uncommon in this city.
