What Jane Frances doesn't like about Golden City Restaurant:
My fiancé and I tried the Golden City Restaurant for the first time and will not be returning customers. We ordered the dinner for two with a side of dumplings and sweet sour pork.We enjoyed the dumplings and the egg roll, the chicken balls were just okay, found the rice had an odd taste and unfortunately, we had to throw away the sweet sour pork because they were mostly cartilage and bone wrapped in breading. The pri... This Chinese restaurant is very clean, great tasting Chinese fare with many variety of dishes to choose from at a very reasonable price. They have the same dishes to take-out if you desire.
The food my friends ate was great! I enjoyed sharing their plates, but a couple of us ran into some red flags during our meal.__My "Squid and Ginger
Absolutely delicious.__My go to place for dim sum in OttawaHot and tasty, our selections were prepared to order.
My daughter and I were passing through on our way to Montreal and were starving. We stopped here looking for something good and tasty. The place was nearly empty in the middle of the afternoon, but we had good service and the food arrived quickly. It was pretty salty but there was a good variety of vegetables and the portions were extremely generous. We had them pack up the leftovers and we heated them up for a quick bite that night when we reached our destination.
This restaurant looks very plain on the outside and even more so inside but that belies how good the Chinese food is. The Hot and Sour soup is some of the best I've ever had; nice and spicy with the right amount of "sour". The first time we went we had the Szechuan dinner for two which included the H and S soup plus three other dishes. I particularly remember the Goo Loo Pork, a favorite of ours. It was really good. The portions were so large we took out enough food for another dinner. On our second visit we had the H and S soup again (of course!) with Singapore Noodles and Imperial Shrimp. For my taste both dishes could have been a little spicier but, even so, both were very good. The staff are friendly and attentive.
