We stumbled across this wonderful little restaurant while strolling through he neighborhood. The food was superb! My wife had the beef stroganoff which was outstanding. I had the cabbage rolls and they were delicious. The dark bread served with our meals tasted great. The prices are very reasonable. We highly recommend this restaurant! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about La Caverne:
The very beautiful but obviously completely overwhelmed waitress (we were 8 people and the place was 75% busy... had a very hard time to maintain. Some dishes were served 30 minutes before others, forget wine, mixed orders. The rupture was fine, the salad as... good, the Russian ravioliist very full. The Kiewer Dessert was pretty good. Not exactly good kitchen, but decent. View all feedback.
Very cozy Russian-Bavarian style restaurant. The food is very good, Russian food is delicious.
We got there at about 5:30, an hour before our reservation, because we're bad with time. There was no-one there, so they were able to accommodate us.Service: The service was alright. The lady didn't seem to understand french or english, so it was mostly a mime experience. She was the only one taking care of all the tables, I hope she got help later.Meal:My wife had the Khartcho soup. It's a kind of beef, pea, tomato soup that's absolutely out of this world. The taste is so special, pungent with garlic, it was lovely. I got the Tchebureky and Beliashy as an entree, the server offered to let me have a plate with one of each, seeing as I wanted to try each. It seems like both of these are a very similar dish, a ground meat patty, well seasoned and with onions, cooked in a dough pastry. The Beliashy was the better one in my opinion, the pastry is much thicker and crispier. When cutting up the Tchebureky, a good amount of oil from the meat seeped out, and made the bottom of the pastry moist. For the main dish, we got the mixed platter, which has Varenekis (potato and mushroom dumpling), Khinkalis (meat dumplings with Aneth spice) a cabbage roll, a Bliny (crepe filled with meat) and a sausage. Everything was good, but you have to be ready for quite a lot of dough and meat! The sausage was my least favorite, kind of feels like a normal hot-dog sausage. Overall: This was still a good and fun dinner, it's always interesting to try new types of dishes and seeing another culture. Would recommend as an exotic night with friend. Reserve in advance, the place is quite small!
Beautiful place to learn in Russian cuisine and Eastern European. meals are prepared by the very nice owner speaking Russian, French and English. A place frequented by a clientele of all origins, there is a typical decor as well as Russian TV, a superb atmosphere and shows of Russian songs on occasion. Good vodkas card. to discover absolutely!
