What VeganCatzo doesn't like about El Cantaro Vegan:
After hearing positive reviews, we decided to try out this restaurant. Unfortunately, we were disappointed by both the service and the taste of the food. The staff was not attentive to our questions; when I asked if our dish contained cilantro, they did not provide a clear answer. Despite noting my request for no cilantro, the dish was still heavily seasoned with it. They remade the dish without cilantro, but the sau... View all feedback.
Totally missed that this place was vegan when I headed there, but I was a pleasant mishap. The tacos here are so delicious and satisfying. Would absolutely come again! Had the nopal and the ranchero.
So good to see authentic Mexican food, and totally vegan! Tried the chicken burrito with tomato rice and black beans on a tomato wrap. Delicious!!! Subtle chicken flavour throughout, nice chunks and the rice was really tasty. Also tried a quesadilla in a corn tortilla. They looked homemade, delicious corn tortilla. Vegan cheese is what it is, the texture was pretty good, it melted nicely, the flavour was pretty bland but the salsa helped give it a nice kick. Really recommend and would definitely come back!! Great portions as well. We did takeaway, but the atmosphere seemed nice. No photos sadly!
Every time we come to visit- it's straight here from the airport. The BEST vegan Mexican food on the planet. If you're not eating here- you're missing out! I literally wake up craving potato tacos and cry because I'm not close enough to get any!
A delicious, all vegan, no frills Mexican restaurant. The menu is robust, with more than enough choices for multiple visits. The space is small, with just a handful of tables, so be prepared for a wait on popular nights. Paper plates and napkins along with compostable plasticy utensils are the vibe. I came in a Tuesday around 6pm (the week between Xmas and NYE), and they were slammed lots of people waiting for dine in orders and perhaps more for to go. We had a ~30 minute wait for our plates to come out. But the food was worth the wait all delicious and flavorful (although the Chile relleno was the spiciest I've ever had, and the fish taco had an intense spice that snuck up on me. My mouth was on fire from both of those in Combo #4)
Even though I do love meat El Cantaro was a nice alternative. I almost didn't miss some nice pork or beef ; It was very tasty and I enjoyed our stay even though we had to wait quite some time for our food.
