Gattavecchi Winery - MONTEPULCIANO

Wonderful and abundant dishes, impeccable service, attentive and kind staff, right prices...all in a very characteristic location and a pleasant atmosphere. recommended!

Gattavecchi is a hidden gem of Montepulchiano! I few blocks walk off main piazza it takes you away from the touristy dining area. Call ahead and make a reservation for outside, then enjoy an amazing view of the valley below ... the service is friendly and as is always true in Italy, an at your own pace event. They have many of the Italian classic dishes with various pasta (tagliatelle yum) and sauces (cinghiale wild boar) ... so many choices. Our favorite way to start is always the bruschetta for 2 .... trust me, even if you have 4 the dish for 2 is plenty to start with the table. We always take friends who come to town to Gattavecchi ... you can also get a tour of their wine cellar which has rich history and is a quick way to cap off a good lunch or dinner.

Very nice place, inside a cellar. excellent dishes: we took the pici with porcini mushrooms and a green pepper cut, both very good. absolutely try pecorino pudding: a real discovery for those who love cheesecake!

This review has sat in my saved drafts for a while but the restaurant deserves it's review. I ordered the steak, simple nothing special, but the Piccadilly was delicious as was the gluten free bread. Zappa vedrei yum patata delicimo!

Very kind. They were waiting for me, but for a car problem, I didn't go see them. It'll be for the next time.
