We ordered the Siomay Bandung, Star fried rice, and Jakarta fried noodle. I really enjoyed the Siomay Bandung, especially the 2 pieces of Siomay. The fried rice to me was pretty bland and nothing special. The fried noodle is pretty good and would recommend getting their noodle instead of the rice. There is some sauce bar on the side and I really love their chili sauce. Just be careful since it is really spicy if you... View all feedback.
What Rob S doesn't like about Noodle Stars:
My wife and I stopped by this quick service restaurant after shopping at Sprouts. We had Jakarta Fried Noodle and Indonesian Fried Rice. It was very greasy for us as they made us sluggish and thirsty immediately. I think the thirst was due to MSG. And it also made my tummy hurt. The cashier lady was aggressively hot-selling various items on the menu despite our repeated refusal. And she asked a funny question, “Are y... View all feedback.
Love this place! We ended up eating here three times on our one week trip. The food is great (our favorite was the Nuoc Cham Chicken). Nice location with a view of the ocean.Parking fills up pretty fast, but it seems to be okay to park at the mall across the street. It's wise to make a reservation, as one day we got turned away.Sometimes, in the evenings, they open the roof, and tree waste falls to the tables, so be prepared for that. The biggest disappointment was that they haven't expanded to more locations. We were hoping to find one in southern California. Come on Star Noodle. Don't make us wait until we get back to Maui.
The most flavorfull noodles I have ever had! Super yummy empanadas, too.Food: 5/5
Thank you Yelpers for this great find! Noodles from SE Asia. We ordered:Fried Tofu big portion, at least a dozen pieces. Note that each piece also has some ground fish. Comes with a very spicy sauce and a sweet but thick soy sauce.Star Noodle special soupless dish with veggies, mushrooms, BBQ pork, fish balls and egg noodles. I feel this dish was a bit bland, but it was good with the sauce that came with the fried tofu. Chicken Bihon stir fry and very similar to vermicelli, not greasy at all. One side of the store is also a small grocery store with snacks, drinks, and spices. Will definitely visit again soon to try other dishes.
Indonesian cuisine is a rare find, so we are lucky to have this little gem in Monrovia. The restaurant is unassuming and the food feels comforting. If you are unsure about what to order, they will help you decide.
I tried the chicken noodle soup #3) and flat fried noodles #15). Both were absolutely phenomenal, with perfect Unami flavors. It was even more delicious with the spicy sauce that came with it. I would definitely go back to try more of the food options!
