Hochland Restaurant-Cafe - Mittenwald

This restaurant didn't look as appealing as the other places in Mittenwald from the outside but the food and the atmosphere were great! There were some English menus we could use and the lady there was very happy to help us order. The food was good and there were various options available (including vegetarian dishes). I tried the wild garlic pasta, and although the dish was good I can't say that I was a big fan of the garlic. However, the side salad was better than expected and it could even be considered a standalone meal.

As others have said, if a place is where the locals go, you will get great food. This is certainly true of Hochland, which we had chosen because it had a promising menu posted outside. We found the food (and the Dnkel beer) so good that we went back a second night. Rita, the owner, was such fun and made us feel right at home.

Although Jay and I are regular visitors to Mittenwald we had not been in the Hochland before, (there are so many great places to eat and drink here). On our first visit we were all made really welcome by the very cheerful owner, Rita could not have been more pleasant. We enjoyed it so much that we decided to book a table later in the week ensuring that Jay would get a vegan meal of her choosing. Our choices were Spaghetti with tomato sauce for Jay, Steaks for our friends and Ritas recommendation of the local fried meat specialty for me with local beer, great. This is very much a locals restaurant and can get very busy even on week day nights. The food, drink, service and whole ambiance was great, we couldn't have been made more welcome. If you're going to Mittenwald we can highly recommend this restaurant, we will be returning sometime soon.

We went for dinner after a long trip and very hungry. The menu looked very inviting and the meals were excellent accompanied with local beer and wine from Tirol. The other guests and waitress were very welcoming and made us feel as if we weren´t just travelers.

We stopped in for a light lunch and beer at this cozy little diner very close to the TI in Mittenwald. The special of the day was the Spargle soup as it was in season. Holy Cow! It was amazing! Paired with the local Mittenwald Brewery Dunkel just perfect! The other items on the menu all looked inviting...and at a great price. The owner was very gracious and no language barriers for us non German speakers.
