Great South OC entertainment. We saw 2 live bands play on Friday night, one was an awesome 80s covers band that got the crowd dancing and very engaged!. Drinks are affordable and the crew was very friendly. This is a neighborhood bar though, don't expect to find the see and be seen scene. View all feedback.
What 1Steve H (1 1 year ago on Google doesn't like about Costello's Neighborhood Tavern:
Decent place with very nice staff. BUT, omg the patrons are so full of themselves, not just this time either. So. I won't be returning 0 for 2 and I'm out. Why waste another night listening to one boy tell everyone, whose tab he's got, how awesome he is, don't forget, and how could I when it was screamed at the back of my head from 30 feet away? I feel sorry for the staff, I wish them luck. Caio View all feedback.
Best restaurant best rock band and best beautiful bride ever!?
Live entertainment and I am talking about the Boomers not the bands. Costello 's has a lot of different looks: Dive Bar by day, Boomer nightclub by night, the stiffest pours in Orange County (and by a lot), and some of the best people watching I have seen in years possibly since the pandemic. The bartenders are quite welcoming and the crowds are jovial as well as upbeat.I stopped in after watching the NFL game at the nearby BW3 with a large group and even with the place packed to the point of standing room only we had drinks in our hands within 5 minutes. As far a Bar goes, Costello 's gets it done. My friend is a savage and ordered me a double Gin Tonic which equated to a cup of Gin and a Lime wedge. I mean I guess the Bartender may have looked at the bottle of Tonic before handing the drink over but that is at maximum. They had a live band that was somewhere between crappy and just plain bad but nobody seemed to mind much as the crowd seemed perfectly happy to sing along to Tom Petty, Bob Seger, and you guessed it: even Free Bird. At the Bar you will find tipsy Boomers trying to hook up with each other which is a blast to watch particularly while guys crash and burn. They have to scream to compensate for loudness of the band meaning you get to hear all the action. Our group started taking odds on how fast a person would get shut down which became much more interesting than the lousy band. I would have won $100.00 if any woman threw a drink in someones face but that didn 't happen. What else? Oh It may not look like it but there is a door man as we found out when two millennials attempted to mosh to the Kinks You really got me . The men 's room was in a state of disarray but at least nobody was snorting blow in the stalls (looking at you Red Fox in San Clem). If you enjoy Yelp comedy read some of the one and two star reviews for Costello 's this place seems to never disappoint. They also offer a full menu you would be certifiably insane for trying.
It’s an awesome place if you’re at least 40 which I am and I love it everyone has a great time
Awesome place for drinks had a great time. Jake the bartender made sure we had a great time!
On Friday there with a male friend and the bartender seemed drunk. stood next to my friend when he ordered us two beers. She gave him a beer and went away. Completely ignored me just talking to him. I had to ask a bartender for a drink and she was very nice and accommodating. Later in the evening the drunk bartender sat in the bar drunk and sloppy with someone. I like the food and now I'd rather sit at a table instead of at the bar. Not sure if it's okay that the bartenders are wasted, but that seemed to happen here.
