While some felt the price point was high for the quality of food, others found the dishes to be fantastic and the experience wonderful from start to finish. The restaurant serves fresh and flavorful dishes, with standout items like truffle-fired artichokes, scallops, lobster pasta, and decadent desserts. The cocktails are also highly recommended. Overall, Buckley's is a Milwaukee gem worth visiting for a fancy night out.
Food was fantastic and loved the building. The noice level in the restaurant was awful, it ruined the experience. We were with another couple and I could not hear anything they were saying. Maybe we will go back and eat outside. Add softness to absorb the sound.
We had an early dinner (515-615) on a Thursday. The restaurant had a few other dinners, but it was a pleasurable environment to enjoy our dinner. We had the artichokes as a starter (delicious), and main meals of Pork chop (tender and juicy) and Mushroom pasta (scrumptious)! Even the tap water was fresh and delightful. Definitely going back
Only slight is the Brussels Sprouts were a little tough (not par-boiled before roasting) and too many on the plate. Otherwise, short rib special was lovely, red potatoes done well, and desserts were VERY good!
Buckley's is a Milwaukee institution, but the last couple of times I've visited, I've been rather disappointed. While our waitress was incredibly friendly, she was responsible for way too many tables which resulted in her not being able to be as attentive as you would expect at a place like Buckley's. The food was good, but my main course (lamb sausage pasta) was a disappointment it tasted like it had been warmed up in the microwave, the pasta shells were not cooked fully, and it was rather salty. Do better, Buckley's. It would be a shame to see a Milwaukee institution become a shell of its former self.
We ate near the bar in a little alcove with a window. There was table nearby with a half dozen people and we were unpurturbed. We split a delicious kale salad (which I throughly enjoyed and I don't care for kale) and we had two entrees. My date had the a delicious chicken picatta which I really liked. Our server was friendly and professional. I recommend eating here.
