It was Thursday evening and we were joined by some out-of-town guests who were eager to experience Topgolf. Before heading there, we decided to try Ochsenshänze and ordered the Ask curry chicken. We were unfamiliar with the dish but decided to give it a try. View all feedback.
What TH C doesn't like about Breezes Cafe Grill:
I liked this place but the one thing I was disappointed with- the taste ... I ordered ox tail and the cow feet soup... I wasn't impressed.. I was dying for that true Caribbean flavor but I ended up getting a more of an Americanized taste. The positives- BYOB. Clean restaurant. Friendly staff. Free parking in rear. View all feedback.
I heard so many good things about Breeze's from friends, so naturally I had to check it out with my friends. We came on a weeknight, when the restaurant appeared to be less busy. It is a relatively small establishment, but it is clean and well taken care of. Upon entering, I was greeted warmly by the hostess, who directed me to where my friends were waiting. There was a performer singing oldies and covers of newer songs, which provided a nice ambiance. I got the jerk chicken and they got the Breezes appetizer sampler. Let me just say how much I appreciate when the chef makes the food spicy and means it!! That jerk chicken fell right off the bone and flavoring was juuuust right. I didn't leave a single crumb behind. I paired it with one of their alcohol free cocktails (safe sex on the beach cocktail) which tasted amazing. Toward the end of our dinner, the chef came out and greeted all the patrons personally, which was nice. Overall, it was a great experience and can't wait to come back!
I was kind of shocked by my experience based on all these 5 Star comments. I found the servers to be incredibly friendly and welcoming, but the other areas fell short. We started by sharing the appetizer sampler and the pholourie. I was kind of underwhelmed. The catfish in the app sampler was very tasty, everything else was average. I had the spinach curry as an entree same underwhelmed feelings. Several people at my table got dishes that had roti and complained that it was very dry. For dessert we shared the creme brûlée and the rum cake both flat out disappointing. I didn 't find that anything was outrageous I need to go back here again. I went with a large group of people (9) they sent the entrees out 2 by 2 and it literally took 10 minutes for everyone to be served, so many of us sat in front of our hot food waiting for others to be served. A few of us had to ask for water refills several times before receiving them. It was a little too warm. And while the live entertainment was GREAT, the place is a little too small to maintain a conversation while the entertainment is playing at that volume. We told the wait staff about this concern; nothing changed. I hesitated to write this review because the waitstaff were incredibly kind and friendly, but the experience as a whole was still 3 Star.
Your rank is pointless when there are literally NO OTHER Caribbean restaurants in the ENTIRE CITY of Metuchen or even in a close proximity (let 's say 3-5 miles of Metuchen) to compare you against. That 's like saying the Yankees are the best professional baseball team in the Bronx borough, knowing they 're the ONLY professional baseball team in the Bronx! Unless you want to go to Bahama Breeze at Woodbridge mall (in another city), which is a also A CHAIN, and I 'm sure they will out due your entire menu and have spicier jerk wings (in my opinion). The only reason my 4 year old son could eat the jerkless wings is because of the amount of spice that was LACKING, this is NOT an opinion but simply pure FACTS. Your stats are loaded Breezes, step it up!! You have a sign that mentions live entertainment that is free with purchase of an entree, but what if you don 't make a purchase of your insipid food, does one have to pay a cover fee? Just curious. Regardless if it sit down or to go, the food shouldn 't change. Maybe the styrofoam containers soaked up all the flavors and spices in the 3 minute commute to my table at home. Although I wasn 't an active Yelper at that juncture, this was not my first time here. Yet this was indeed my wife 's first experience/ encounter with this bland food, and I was impelled to warn others on how big of a let down this was for her, and how much you (in your own words) did not make the grade . I personally knew better then to eat here again being that I had some super weak food (which was an entree), with subpar service to match (last year). However, being that my wife was very interested in giving this place a try, I let her take the plunge on HER OWN! I will definitely never return and will be sure to give 2 thumbs down to anyone who asks me about this place. Good luck with your business but you have definitely lost mine. God bless you guys and your establishment.

I've come here a few times already and have always had a positive experience. The restaurant has a nice ambience and the service has always been on point. On my last visit, I ordered the Island Tilapia with rice and beans and the cream of pumpkin soup. Everything was delicious, and I still wish I had more room for dessert. My next visit will absolutely consist of ordering their bread pudding. I really enjoyed the lemonade also. It had an interestingly unique flavor, and I am again regretting that I didn't order one to go. I am looking forward to returning especially for their live entertainment.
