Came here for brunch with a big group and everything was delicious. Beignets, crispy frog legs, crawfish hushpuppies, BBQ shrimp and grits, the list goes on. So good. View all feedback.
What Rebecca Cates doesn't like about St. Roch Fine Oysters:
They did not forewarn us they couldn't split the check for our large party and it was very frustrating trying to figure that out amongst our party while we were trying to get out the door. Auto gratuity is fine, but it's 2024 not splitting checks is just lazy business practice. View all feedback.

Excellent atmosphere, awesome server, food was delicious, and wonderful cocktails. We ate the roasted oysters, barbecue shrimp and rice and had several cocktails and wine. Everything was excellent. Dietary restrictions: Dairy and gluten free options.
My family and I visited this restaurant today as part of a celebration for my niece’s birthday. We made reservations as there were 11 people in our group. We arrived right on time for our 2:30 PM reservations. The restaurant was fairly empty so we didn’t have a long wait time. We waited about 5 minutes for them to prepare the area before we could be seated. The atmosphere was welcoming. I love the vintage look and feel of the restaurant. I was also tickled by the label on the restroom door that said WC meaning Water Closet; this was reminiscent of the 1900s. The bathroom area was clean and had a vintage look as well. Our server was professional and friendly. He was also patient as we waited for the birthday girl to arrive. We ordered appetizers and main dishes. The Crawfish Hush Puppies were good but tastes much better when eaten with the charred scallions and Steen's butter. The Smoked Fish Dip, Carolina Calabash fried fish plate, and the Carolina Calabash fried shrimp and oyster combo are really good! Although the fries were a tad salty, those were my favorite dishes. One huge disappointment is the way they manage the bill for large groups. Our server didn’t ask how the bill was to be handled at the beginning of taking our order, so we naturally assumed that we would be able to split the bill when the time came. When it was time to pay the bill, we found out that they do not separate the bill. Regardless of how many people in your party, they only bring you one bill, and they make you calculate your portion including correct amount of taxes by yourself. Each person then presents their credit card to the server with specific instructions on how much money is to be taken out of that person‘s credit card. Never have I experienced that anywhere. That was such a huge inconvenience! For this reason, I lowered my rating to 3 stars.
Save yourself some disappointment and go to McDonalds instead, which is basically at the same culinary level as this place. This restaurant is overpriced, over seasoned, and apparently overly appreciated by some of the reviewers here. I paid $40 dollars for a small plate of overcooked pasta, soaked in grease and some garlic bread that apparently was burned in hell and then soaked in I can 't believe is not Mobil oil. If you are craving some subpar food, then this is the spot!
Our dinner at St. Roch was a beautiful accident. We originally had reservations at Figulina (pro tip: don 't go there) but due to an electrical issue they were closed when we arrived for our reservation so we had to scramble to find another restaurant, which isn 't so easy to do on a Friday night. However, I 'm so glad it happened that way because we quickly made our way to St. Roch and had a really wonderful dinner and overall experience. The service, from both the hostess and our servers, was welcoming, warm, and just outright fun! This was a great first impression, and one that permeated the evening. Thanks! You all were great! As far as the food goes, our expectations were blown out of the water. My wife and I started with a variety of fresh oysters (a dozen) on the half shell, which were all very good. Then we had the Hot Smoked Boudin. What came out was not what we expected and the look of the dish didn 't inspire us initially, but then we tasted it. Holy cow (or pig, in this instance) this was absolutely delicious! I mean, REALLY good. Then, we had the Beets and Berries salad. Oh baby, was that thing delicious! It could almost be served as a dessert as it leans in that direction, what with the strawberries, agrodolce, and whipped ricotta. Its probably my favorite way that I 've ever eaten beets. Crazy good! Finally, we had the Malfadine Crab with a side of Garlic Bread, and we loved both of those as well. The pasta was perfectly 'al dente ', and the crab, shrimp, and tasso pork belly interplayed perfectly to deliver a rich and sophisticated flavor which danced on the palate. To sum things up, we didn 't originally intend to go to Roch 's, but what a happy turn of events it was, and we will definitely be back. Maybe we 'll see you there!
