We were here by chance looking for nearby restaurants that were open at 3pm but everything was closed, here it said open but as soon as we arrived it was closed... read more We were here by chance looking for nearby restaurants that were open at 3pm but everything was closed, here it said open but as soon as we arrived it was closed but speaking to the super kind and friendly staff we asked if it was possible to eat something on the fly and they told us that not there were problems we took a mixed platter and a good glass (cup) of wine... my goodness how good everything was, the platter was fabulous and the wine exceptional, the price was quite high but normal the products sent are sought after and local therefore for the products eaten it was worth 1 x2 cutting board and 2 cups of wine 65 euros

This...is no place for a rushed meal, if you want a real full-on experience, give it at least two hours, but probably even a bit longer. The dishes on the menu are traditional and produced with lovely local produce. Their platters of cheeses, cold cuts and other apetizers are not too be missed at the start with a glass or two of sparkling wine. If you are a polenta lover, this place will feel like heaven, they offer it in many different ways, including polenta al latte, a nostalgic childhood meal for many. If in the area and ready for a leisurely weekend meal, this is the place to come enjoy Italy in Switzerland.

Beautiful setting, with the restaurant hanging onto the cliff and a church carved into rock. Fantastic view of the Northern Italian plains from about above Mendrisio. The drive up is quite the experience, with plenty of hairpin turns and a narrow road. Follow the slightly wider main road and avoid Google map’s guidance through the neighborhood.
