Saturday lunch with family and I ordered the steak sandwich. Often the steak can be a bit chewy . This would have to be the best steak sandwich I 've ever eaten in a bistro. It was tender, tasty and not a sinew in sight. The turkish bread was fresh and just the right amount of salad. A basket of crisp, crunchy chips completed the meal. It was a lunch special and came with a glass of house wine...best $23 I 've spent... View all feedback.
What Fghjry doesn't like about The Yarraville Club Bistro:
Been going to “My Local” Yarraville club for several years now. My mates and I usually go for the good value pot ‘n’parma for $15 and most often stay for a punt and a few beers. Went there tonight to find price has jumped to $25 as new menu now. They definitely have a new chef too as the parma’s came out in under 10 mins and were soggy and warm on the outside and slightly cool on the inside. No doubt the good old mas... View all feedback.

No doubt the good old mass produced when quiet in the kitchen, then put them in the refrigerator and give them a quick zap in the microwave when someone orders one. So disappointing Yarraville Club. Why!!!

The YC is a members club open to visitors. To be sure, it is really a glorified pub but don't let that put you off. The bistro has had a few incarnations over the 12 years I have been a member. First it was catering in-house which was good enough, the a caterer (Pekish) got involved with a menu that didn't quite satisfy the local palate, then prior to Covid it reverted back to in-house with somewhat gargantuan serves which frankly weren't good. Now post Covid lockdowns the in-house has eturned to serving superior pub grub with specials M-Thursday. The last time I went was for the Wednesday steak night at $25 a plate, not exactly a cheapie but it was an excellent cut of meet with ample sides and a sauce as part of the bargain. Overall, very good value. The one thing that could be looked at is the wine list.
Expensive, poor and slow service despite lots of staff and few customers, average food and not much of it.
Looking for a nice meal with friends. Early evening, not expensive and a reasonable menu. Thursday night and a small crowd most seemed like regulars. As first timers, we opted for the restaurant but the bar has the same menu. Very impressed by the friendliness of staff, the breadth of menu including specials and the reasonable prices. Had a choice of tables, the specials were explained, drinks sorted and time to chose our meals. We had a beef burger, the 1/2 rack of pork ribs both Thursday night specials), the prawn lobster ravioli and a plate of sweet potato chips! Yes, it was pub grub, but delicious. We all enjoyed our meals. Generous servings and prices were reasonable total cost $130 including 4 drinks for 3 adults). The staff made us feel like locals. Happy to recommend.
