Jimmy Wong's restaurant is famous. It is in the heart of Footscray. Footscray is going upmarket, but Jimmy Wong's still serves traditional Chinese food at a fair price. It's more Australo-Chinese than anything else, but it's very popular. Jimmy Wong's has an ancient feud with Poon's -- try both and see which is best. View all feedback.
What Arvilla Metz doesn't like about Jim Wong:
The food is ordinary and runs a distant second to Poons just along the street. The spring rolls and dim sims are not as good and the fried rice missing the chicken. View all feedback.
My friend and I were with jim Wang;s with the expectation of having lunch as we had done before. we were welcomed by a great sign that jim wang 's is owned for sale with free. that seems to spell the end of jim. this is the end of the eternal battle of jim wang 's and poon 's, footscay 's two competing Chinese restaurants that are just a few doors apart.
This restaurant has been in footscray for over 50 years. wonderful eating, an old style as well as new. always good, the staff is always friendly. dim sims are fantastic.
Absolutely incredible. the Dimms Sims are amazing. the service is fantastic. the honey prawns and lemon chickens should die. I'm addicted. I love this restaurant so much and it has been there for over 60 years, it is an institution.
This is the old school aussie chinese. the early roll are great, like everything else we have tried. if you want to, like you had when you were a child, that's the place for you. we usually get away or home delivery are both fast and fresh.
I pop here at least twice a week as I work locally. The food is great especially the home made dim sums which rival the south Melbourne dim sims and personally think it is better. The staff are very very friendly. The restaurant is a...local icon of Footscray and the council are naming a Lakeway in honour of Jimmy Wong.
