First time at the grand old pub , with lunch with friends . Service was very good , mostly tentative , table for 4 persons was a bit tight with drinks and once dishes came to table. Food was beautiful cooked , not fancy but very hardy and well priced.. definitely worth a try. View all feedback.
What Mary Shanahan doesn't like about Hotel Lincoln:
It was hot at the tables under the umbrellas and also hot inside. The air conditioning was struggling to make an impression on the Melbourne Summer's day. For my lunch I chose the fish and chips and a Sour Cherry Beer to wash it down. This was nicely refreshing and the barman brought me water with my beer to re-hydrate me. The fish was a disappointment. For the price there was little fish. It seemed to be dominated b... View all feedback.

The food was very good and cheap. We were in a dedicated restaurant area in front of the main pub. The kitchen was fully visible what I think is always a good thing. My son and I shared the godfather who was tasteful. We had both the venison pie, the meat was mined, I would have preferred a more 'chunky' filling, but it was very slim and the Gravy was rich and tasty. The staff was very friendly and professional. Upon arrival, I ordered a beer for me and a small red wine for my son at the bar before we asked for a table, they came to $32 that seemed a little expensive. A few negatives were the starter and the net at the same time, not what I wanted personally and rather strange. I have commented the people on the next table Oh, it's all at once when meals were served in the same way. The waitress did not leave the table water bottle with us, but preferred to take over again and again what interrupted our conversation, I do not understand this approach completely, it is only free water! I would go back, but one thing I would insist on is that the starter and the net don't come together.
A disappointing group dinner. At $45 per head we got the choice of only 2 starters and 2 nets. The vegetarian option consisted of a small salad (starter?) and a small and extremely underwhelming chickpea cure with some pieces of roasted cauliflower. Bad value for money and hardly celebrity. Would you get better values/options from the general menu? Who knows.
