What Alycia Renner doesn't like about Brim CC Japanese Organic Cafe:
Near hotel so decided to visit. Lived in Japan for many years so know good Japanese food. The mayo potato salad was terrible. My wife makes it and this was below standard. The rice was hard . must have been sitting along time in the...rice cooker. Not an enjoyable experience. Plenty of other Japanese restaurants near by Very disappointed . won't visit again View all feedback.
Located on Little Collins Street near Southern Cross train station, BRIM CC Japanese Café is popular among office workers looking for a quick and delicious meal. The staff, mostly Japanese, are friendly and efficient in handling the orders. The menu offers a variety of options, with the Half Curry Rice and Soup Set being my personal favorite. The prices are reasonable, ranging from $9.90 for Homemade Tokyo style curry Rice to $14.40 for the Half Curry Rice, Soup Set. Overall, BRIM CC Japanese Café is a great spot to enjoy home-cooked style organic Japanese food. Whether you go for the Curry Rice, Bento Box, or any other item on the menu, you are sure to leave satisfied. I highly recommend this café for a wholesome and flavorful dining experience.
The vegetarian curry cost $9.80 and was the same as usual, with maybe a bit more carrot. It had a lot of sauce and was very filling, although there wasn't a huge amount of vegetables. The chicken katsu curry cost $12.80 and was similar to the vegetarian curry, but with onion crumbed chicken that was submerged in curry sauce, so it wasn't crunchy but still tasty. I wouldn't order it again though. I have been getting takeaway from this restaurant since October 2018. We usually order the chicken tomato curry or the vegetarian curry. The chicken is free-range and the vegetarian curry consists of chunky root vegetables. Both dishes are very filling. The accompanying mixed rice has a good texture. There is plenty of nice curry sauce, which can become a bit repetitive when eaten together, but it is very comforting. The service staff are always nice, and I recommend ordering in the afternoon before catching the nearby train to avoid the lunch rush. Overall, it is good value for money.
It's a shame that BrimCC only opens on weekdays. I bet they'd do a roaring trade on weekends if the weekday crowd is anything to go by. <br/ <br/ I had the half size curry and salad set while my side kick had the organic soup salad set. All their ingredients were organic and this was certainly obvious in the taste and freshness of their offerings. The curry had the right amount of umaminess while the salads were healthily tasty. <br/ <br/ Will definitely make the effort to come into town during the week in the future just to try their other items.
I got the chicken curry don and an omurice for takeaway, both of them came with the same small side salad. The food here is very fresh, healthy and homey. The curry was more subtle than the usual Japanese curry you get elsewhere but it was tasty and the chicken was tender. It came with red rice which I love. The omurice also came with red rice. It was a little on the sweet side for me but I think this may be how it is supposed to be. The salad was crisp and lightly dressed.

It's rare to find this level of freshness and quality in restaurants nowadays.
