Abe's Hideout And Saloon

Greeted warmly as usual after a long day of work hadn 't eaten all day and was looking forward to one of our favorite spots for dinner. I asked our waitperson if I could get a black and blue salad made with chicken instead of steak. It was a yes or no question, but they decided to ask me if I wanted the Caesar salad instead. I explained that I wanted the exact salad as the black and blue, all I wanted was to substitute grilled chicken. I was then told that I could get the grilled chicken salad instead and I explained my dietary restrictions to no avail. She explained how hard my order would be e to explain to the kitchen, so I told her to just bring me the black and blue as is. I asked a simple question and it was turned into such a huge confusing mess that I just at that point wanted something to eat. They then said, I 'll get you some chicken I explained that I 'd like the salad as it comes on the menu but she walked away. What I was served was a salad but with the oldest, driest, coldest piece of chicken I think they could muster. I honestly don 't know how old it was or where they dug it out from, but it couldn 't even be cut with my husband 's steak knife. As I was absolutely at my wits end with the entire experience and beyond hungry, I ate what I could and we left. In all of our years of driving to Abe 's and recommending it to others, this was obviously such a deliberate act as no one I know has ever gotten terrible food like this piece of chicken. I am so sad and disappointed, plan to never return and will definitely discontinue my recommendations. For those of you with doubts I was raised in the restaurant business this was pure customer sabotage and about the most frustrating, dumbest exchange I have ever had with a server. I was beyond patient and polite and the entire exchange was so bad it was bizarre. I hope y 'all do better in the future but you just lost us as loyal patrons.

The food is always great and staff is incredible. I love that it is in small town with awesome atmosphere and relaxed experience.

Buffalo Chicken Pony Shoe was amazing. The cheese sauce was homemade and yummy, the Lamb Weston fries were great and the Buffalo sauce was perfect. The waitress was friendly but not overbearing. Great lunch experience.

The food, service and atmosphere are all amazing. Definitely one of the best restaurants in the Springfield area.

The food is great, the service is fantastic. I would recommend this place to anybody nice clean.
