Khan's Grill - McAllen

If you're not familiar with Mongolian grills, it's pretty simple. All of the raw ingredients are laid out, buffet style, including veggies and meats. You pick what you want, and the staff grills it up. There are various sauces and spices to add as well. It's a great concept as you get to crate exactly what you want. <br/ <br/ Overall, I give Khan's a good review. Solid choice of veggies and meats. Lots of different dry spices and sauce options as well. There are a few things to know, since all Mongolian restaurants are different. At Khan's you have a separate bowl for veggies/ noodles and one (smaller) bowl for meats. I don't like this, but I've seen it in many other places. Also you do not do your own sauce. The chef will add the sauce(s) of your choosing during the grilling. Also this particular restaurant is not all you can eat. <br/ <br/ I do appreciate that all the veggies are fresh. Also the meats are not frozen. One small complaint. When the staff is grilling your meal, they place the different customers plates to close together. I expect some overflow, but in this instance I got a lot of my neighbors dish. The bad part is that I got several pieces of crab, which threw off the taste of my meal. <br/ <br/ Bottom line- great concept, fresh ingredients, friendly staff!

Typically there is always fresh ingredients but the manner which people serve themselves leaves a lot to be desired. Instead of putting their bowls close to the desired ingredients, they bring it out to the board the bowls sit on, creating a real mess. The positive is that the attendants are always trying to keep it clean but it's hard to do, especially when the line is never ending. I've never had an issue with contamination, but the potential exists. The cooks are superb and always cook to order and present a plate that is always full and actually more than enough. Servers are constantly checking to ensure your drinks are refilled. Overall, always a good experience.

WHY IS THIS NOT RATED HIGHER!!!!!. At Khan's, you LITERALLY SEE YOUR FOOD MADE! You can't mess up your food unless you choose wrong ingredients. Plus, this place is packed all the hours of operation and they probably have SOOO many regulars! Yep, stir fry will be my guilty pleasure :3

Wonderful!!! I always end up taking half of the plate home and when I order to go I only get one full plate then split it with my fiancé...thats a $10 meal for 2!! I always use canola oil, 'house ' sauce and lemon
