Great service. The sushi presentation was engaging and set an expectation for the sushi which was easily met. Fresh.. delicious... Interesting combos and perfect traditional offerings. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $30–50 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 View all feedback.
What Bryan Dusza doesn't like about Crazy Stone:
We had ordered our main courses at the same time, but two out of the three dishes arrived together, while the teriyaki beef took an additional 15-20 minutes to come out. When we suggested sharing the teriyaki beef, they informed us it was too late, despite mentioning that it still needed to be prepared and cooked. This ultimately left a bad impression. We eventually received the dish well after two of us had already... View all feedback.
From the outside, this looks like a hole in the wall, but it's really a hidden gem. They managed to get us in right before closing, and everyone was wonderful. The atmosphere was cozy, and the food was top-notch! Best sushi around, and very reasonably priced! Also, Jenny was an amazing waitress; super friendly and personable!Food: 5/5
We picked up a nice takeout sushi dinner from here this evening and unfortunately it's not remotely the standard we are used to from Crazy Stone. There was a major...all sushi and rolls were falling apart and could not be eaten properly (with our without chop sticks). I'm not sure if the rice was just not packed appropriately or if it wasn't cooked correctly but it was a massive mess.To top off this disappointment we got a spicy roll and it was loaded with hot sauce. Now we have never gotten this roll before (it was the Kiss Me roll for the record) so this might be the norm, but it seemed spicier that I would think it should have been. All in all it almost felt like there was a new or inexperienced chef there, but who knows. What I do know is it's disappointing and I won't be looking to spend this kind of money again here.
My family stopped by for lunch at Crazy Stone on a Sunday evening. We were on our way to an event in Boylston, MA, which was about 30 minutes away. Parking was ample. The mall strip that the restaurant share it's space with also had an Edible Arrangements, Deg's Cake, a candy store, and more. What convinced me to try them was the cherry blossom trees that decorated the restaurant. What I didn't expect was to be blown away by the stunning view of the Hager Pond when we were seated. I can only imagine what the pond will look like in a month when all of the lily begin to bloom. For appetizers, we ordered the All In Sampler, the Salmon Dream and the Aji Tataki. Presentation wise, the All in Sampler was the best. It also tasted the best. The only problem was eating it since the round tin would tip over inside of the glass goblet. A small spoon would have been appropriate to serve with this dish. Despite the plating mishap, this dish was delicious, everything was fresh. Although both the Salmon Dream and the Aji Tataki were delicious, however, both dishes were smothered in a savory sauce. I wanted the fish to stand out more. I probably wouldn't order these again but this does not mean you shouldn't try it since both were delicious. My family love salmon so my husband ordered three pieces of salmon belly nigiri and Sake Don. The salmon belly was fatty and melt in your mouth delicious. Each piece was garnished with shaved truffle and green onions. I highly recommend this nigiri for salmon lovers. The Sake don had plenty of salmon and ikura, both were fresh. Again, plating could use work. The daikon and tamago was chopped into cubes. Not sure if they did this for the kids but if this is how they serve it to adults, I'd skip this next time. I highly recommend ordering from the Chef special menu. I tried the Wagyu Egg Nigiri, Sweet Shrimp Ikura Nigiri, Hotate Nigiri, Madai Nigiri, Kinmedai Nigiri, Chu Toro Truffle Nigiri. All were delicious! No complaints! The plating so is cute with a little blue bird perched on a Sakura branch. No sake in the sake bottle though, just decorative. I would highly recommend this place for the special item menu and sushi, the interior decoration, and especially the stunning view of Hager Pond from the back of the restaurant windows. Service was adequate. See my pictures!
Fabulous restaurant, John owner/chef is a real craftsman, the food is fresh, and presentation is beautiful. The staff is attentive but not intrusive. We go here regularly just because it's always that delicious.Food: 5/5
Really exceptional sushi hidden away in an unassuming location. The ambience is okay, nicer than a lot of strip mall sushi places, but the food is just excellent. Really worth the trip. The service is also very good, with the waiters being quite kind and attentive.Parking: Parking is part of a small strip mall/commercial area. There's usually enough parking for everyone. It's not huge like some parking lots but there are plenty of spots.
