Great restaurant at Marina Del Rey. The staff is friendly and responsive. We were greeted instantly at the door and table. They kept our drinks full and our table clean. The food is rich and filling. Come on an empty stomach and leave full. Prices are reasonable considering the quality of the food. View all feedback.
What Jeff H doesn't like about Cafe Del Rey:
My initial experience with Cafe Del Rey didn't start off on a high note to say the least. I was served the wrong food, then was presented with a pasta dish that was so greasy it was inedible. The server was totally clueless to everything going on, but thankfully the manager came in and saved the day. He took care of the bill, and even gave me a gift card for a future visit. The view was spectacular! My sorority had a private brunch here and the room was just right for our large party. The wait staff were attentive to our needs and made sure we were well taken care of. The prix fixe menu for brunch had a wide variety of options and even a vegan option upon request for me! The chef was so nice to even come out and assure me that he made sure everything was vegan. And it was amazingly delicious! Well worth the money!
Delicious, interesting seafood in a marina setting, Cafe del Rey was perfect. We weren't dressed for a fancy dinner, but in California that's fine. They took reservations and were gracious about our 7-year old being with us. We dined early at 5:30. As the evening progressed the clientele became much fancier, so we were glad we'd eaten early!
Came here a few days ago for lunch, the first time I visited last year was for dinner so it was nice to try out to dine during the day. We were greeted by the Hostess and were were sat shortly afterwards by a nice table by the window, it was such a nice view as well, we started off with light starters like the Cheese charcuterie plate, the truffle pizza and burger we were a larger group so pretty much split everything. I loved the Cheese burger so much our amazing server Tamara explained how it was blended with 3 cheeses and many of the menu items are made in-house which is pretty neat. We also tried the shrimp pasta, salmon plate, the seafood tower was amazing I love the crab and jumbo shrimps. For drinks we mostly had the lemonades which were delicious. I would recommend next time making a reservation for large parties or for dinner. Will be back
Each incarnation of this 'dockside ' restaurant is more impersonal but still one of the loveliest waterfront views anywhere, with a very friendly/well-trained staff (mostly tourist guests) and a second generation LA chef determined to give diners a fresh, quality and evolving menu. It still makes you thankful for this expensive white tablecloth dining because of the memorable 'experience. ' A fantastic whole fish! And hostess Jan is still at the door after all these decades to make you feel welcome as soon as you step inside the door.
