more than miss. in the year when el tap was around us, we were very happy with eating. the service is fast, and eating is usually very good. I was a little disappointed, but it's quite tasty in that. the game is totally worth it because it's a pretty safe bet. the be-all-end-all-spot for Mexican farewell, but a great addition to the west side of the city. What Eugene Cole doesn't like about El Tapatio Mexican:
Typical Mexican restaurant that caters to an American palate. Service was great. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $10–20 Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 View all feedback.
Eating was not only decently expensive and generously portioned, but eating was so delicious and authentic to this south texas gal. each plate had a surprisingly large amount of meat, and it was juicy and seasoned and perfectly cooked! we were very impressed. the only problem we had with our evening meal was that several fly at our table were grounded with us. but the food and the worth were so good that I would only remove half a star. recommended! picture: carne asada plate
4.5/5Seriously AMAZING food! The huge portions, authentic flavor, and quality service make this place a new favorite for sure!I only say 4.5 because the inside is a bit dilapidated, and we had several flies. Some re-upholstery on the seats, a bit more decor, and some of those fans at the entrance to keep out flies, and this place would be absolutely perfect. Honestly, it felt like I was back in Mexico while there, so maybe keep the wear and flies? LolPhoto is of the Fajitas El Tapatio for ONE which is a ton of food. With maximum loading, this plate will make an easy 6-8 tacos.
My wife and I love El Tapatio. It is the most authentic Mexican restaurant around. We have been going there for the last 2 years and have never had a bad experience. The food is delicious, the service is great, and we also like the atmosphere. It can be loud and crowded in there on a weekend night, but during the week it is quiet. They have gotten my order slightly wrong a couple times, but they are always willing to fix it and even when it is wrong, the food is so good that I don't really care too much. The chips and salsa are always good and fresh, the meat is always seasoned and cooked well, the salsa and queso are flavorful with a bit of spice, and the Margaritas are huge. The best part about El Tapatio is the price. My wife and I spent about $50 for what is in the pictures below. Two entrees, an appetizer, a jumbo margarita and a horchata. The portions are also very generously sized. Highly recommend El Tapatio to anyone who wants authentic delicious Mexican food for a very reasonable price.
2 of us had beef taco salads! They were very good! The shell was fresh and tasty! Great chips and salsa! The waitress was handling to many customers, but getting the job done! Since we were visiting from IL, I would return, when we come back to visit again!
Fantastic food and great service. the only Mexican restaurant I visit
