This small market has a great bulk section with a variety of spices, gluten-free flours, refillable soaps, and grains. They even allow customers to bring their own containers to reduce waste. In addition, they have a small freezer with vegan ice cream, kimchi, and desserts for sale. However, my favorite part of Ida is their cafe. They offer affordable traditional Nicaraguan dishes that are hard to find elsewhere, such as nacatamales. I usually order ahead through What's App. Recently, they have also added other delicious plant-based options like pizza, pasta, burgers, salads, pancakes, and french toast. These dishes range from $8-10. I highly recommend trying their veg burger with tomato-watermelon panzanella salad and finishing with fresh strawberry cashew ice cream.
This restaurant offers traditional vegan Nicaraguan food, which is quite rare in Nicaragua. The food is delicious and they use meat substitutes sparingly, focusing more on vegetables as a meat alternative. The dishes are wrapped in a traditional manner and you can bring your own bags for takeout. While you can dine on site, it's more of a cafe than a restaurant, located in the same plaza as Sports Deport, one block from Club Terraza. The staff is friendly and easily reachable via WhatsApp.
This little store offers a great variety of items in bulk, including spices, gluten-free flours, refillable soaps, and cereals. Customers are even encouraged to bring their own containers to help reduce waste. Additionally, there is a small freezer stocked with vegan ice cream, kimchi, and desserts for sale. However, the standout feature of this place is Ida's café. Guests can enjoy affordable traditional Nicaraguan dishes, such as nacatamales, which can be hard to find elsewhere (I usually order them in advance via What's app). Recently, they have also started offering other delicious plant-based options like pizza, pasta, burgers, salads, pancakes, and French toast. While some of these dishes may be slightly higher priced at around $8-10, I highly recommend trying the Veg Burger, paired with a tomato watermelon Panzanella salad and topped off with a scoop of fresh strawberry Cashew ice cream.
