We have been here a number of times and had lovely meals. The steaks are beautiful (once they we not cooked as per preference but this was fixed when bought to their attention). Very professional staff as well. View all feedback.
Had the $12 chicken Parma and pot of beer, was amazing value for money! One of the best chicken parmas I've had, decent service too, pretty quick serve time aswell.
Its been at least 20 years since my last visit to the Malvern Hotel in Toorak, and to be honest in those days it was never my intention to eat. Walking into the Hotel I was surprised to be greeted by a very different light and bright front bar and restaurant. The Hotel had expanded and now has a number of eating areas including a nice courtyard and enclosed veranda. The staff all family members) make you feel very welcome and whilst attentive were not disruptive. I was pleased I had booked as to my surprise, the main dining area fill so quickly for a Wednesday. Looking around the dining room I noted that the cliental looked very well attired. Not a Fluro work shirt in sight. More so attractive women aged 40 plus) and what looked to like a table or 2 of real estate types. The front bar looked reserved for well dressed retirees enjoying a cold beer whilst talking up the prospects of their football team The Dees). The menu was not overly extensive but offered a nice choice of steaks and seafood options, including the traditional Pub Parma). I selected a Salt and Pepper Prawn dish $28.00) as a main which was tasty and generous in its portion size. It came with a salad however chips were not included. I was disappointed to find that I needed to order those separately. I do hate that.My fellow diner chose a Eye Fillet Medium Rare) at $44.00 which was cooked to perfection and which could have been cut with a butter knife. It came with a nice side salad and chips?. I didn’t quite understand why the steaks came with all the sides included but not all others. It looked great and tasted even better according to my friend. Both meals were washed down with a very cold glass of Peroni Legera Beer which was delicious. Overall the food and service were very good. My meal was ok however the Eye Fillet may just get me back.
We go here for $12 pot and Parma. It's pretty good for my low expectations of pub food. You get a pot of beer of the month or a soft drink and a big serving of a butterfly schnitzel with ham and mozzarella cheese and topped with marinara sauce with a side of chips and salad. You have to go to the sports bar behind the bistro. Service is fast and the staff are nice. Go if you're looking for a cheap fulling eat.
Would have given 5 stars if not for portion sizes.<br/ <br/ Came here on a packed Saturday night. Service was faultless. Ordered the main course scallops for hubby and I to share as an entree. At $34 you only get 6 scallops and a little rocket! Totally shocked at this outrageous pricing! Hubby had the fillet Mignon and I had the risotto. Both dishes were small. A friend had the duck and it was exquisite, but again on the small side. Chocolate pudding for dessert was a delicious way to end the meal.<br/ <br/ The Malvern Hotel is a lovely pub but has Toorak prices and plate sizes. When your husband has to get a Quarter Pounder on the way home from a pub meal you know portions were not up to scratch. It was nice once but I won’t return.
Popped in for a evening meal and very surprised with the food and service both very good just shared 3 on trays but will defiantly return as the main meals coming out looked very generous and looked good
