Contribute FeedbackMastro’s Malibu, an ocean-view steakhouse, delivers a mixed dining experience. While many patrons rave about the ambiance and attentive service, particularly praising dishes like scallops and lobster mash, recurrent complaints highlight inconsistency in steak preparation, with numerous guests experiencing undercooked or overcooked meat. The hostess’s lack of accommodation for larger parties has also been criticized. Reservations are essential due to busyness, but the vibrant atmosphere and stunning views make it a memorable spot. Diners appreciate complimentary treats and recommend photo opportunities by the patio, yet some urge improvements in service and food consistency for an elevated experience.
It is a beautiful steakhouse right on the beach. eating was fantastic. was a little overcrowded, but no problem. I made a reservation and went straight in. overall it was a great experience, personal was beautiful and knowledgeable.
The best dinner I had for a long time! with a look excellent service! the caviar was super, the variety of free brot was delicious, the wagyu bark was super delicate also like butter, and the cocktails were absolutely delicious! tipps to the restaurant: clean the crumbs between the sitting please.
Mastros as a whole is on a scale of it's own. To rate it comparatively is almost unfair to any other steakhouse. I haven't had anything mediocre, or anything below greatness. While I usually go to their other location, I was treated to this location just recently and decided to make a review. My only critique is that their heat measurement is a hair different at this location. It caused our table to get a slightly more rare cut than we were all used to. They did a great job in describing their temperatures which we all heard, but promptly ignored. Regardless, that did nothing to stop us from leaving only skeletal remains on our plates. I don't believe any cut of meat tops their bone in filet. Not even the Waygu Beef. Their all amazing, but the Bone-In Filet is perfection. It always pairs astonishingly well with their Garlic Lobster Mashed Potatoes with a side of any of their veggies. This particular location's drinks are better than most high end bars. Can't wait to visit again.
I really enjoyed Sunday lunch here. It's only indoor seating but it wasn't super crowded. The food was really good. I ordered the sea scallop entree she got the Chilean sea bass. And you have to get the butter cake for dessert, trust me! It's expensive dining for sure but worth the splurge. Our server was excellent (forgot her name). The view is amazing.
The location is as breathtaking as it can get, being an ocean view restaurant. The food was good, not crazy but alright. The service is good. The drink was not that great. Make sure to have reservation in advance. Don't forget to try their pretzel bread, it ships daily fresh from Germany.
