Situated at a beautiful market place. They had a selection of draught beers and a nice menu. We all choose something different, but we all were very satisfied with what we got. Staff sereved friendly and was quick. View all feedback.
This is a very Germanic restaurant, with a small menu of local delights . Initially the proprietor appeared quite off hand but as the evening wore on he became quite friendly and welcoming despite his limited English and our limited German . As a group of 8 we were accommodated without booking . We were the only non locals in the place but were mage welcome . The menu is small and very Germanic. We all chose dishes recommended by a couple of locals and were not disappointed. The pig knuckle cooked two ways was a favourite I chose the “ Mayors platter” which was a sort of mixed grill of pork fillet, ham fillet and sausage with sauerkraut and chips. Everything was served in ginormous quantities , save your visit to a day when you’re going to be extra hungry !! It’s fairly basic cheap and cheerful very local and a great experience. Only slight negative is the limited choice of beers.
For lunch we chose the Bötelstube, a traditionally appointed cafe serving traditional regional food, which tends to center around pork, potatoes and cabbage. Eschewing the local specialty, pork knuckle with boiled potatoes and mushy peas, we opted for two of the lunch specials – for my husband a currywurst with cole slaw and fries and for me, something called a “thick rib” with sauerkraut and potato dumplings. Despite being intended for lunch, the portions could easily sere two. Neither of us could taste the curry in the currywurst, but the sausage itself was good, as was the pleasantly tangy cole slaw. My rib rose four inches above my plate; the meat was tasty but difficult to pry from the bone. My sauerkraut was among the best I’ve had anywhere, and the one potato dumpling I was able to finish was surprisingly light.
We had Schnitzel and Haxe. Large portions and well prepared. Together with beer, it ended up to 36€. Quick service.
