Swagat is one of my go-to restaurants when I'm in Madison. Miss the variety of the buffet, but at least I get to enjoy leftovers! Last weekend, some family members and I ordered fish pakora, lamb vindaloo, lamb masala, lamb shahi korma, tandoori chicken, a variety of breads, and rasmalai for dessert for lunch. Everything was DEE-LISH-OUS, but I particularly enjoyed the fish pakora and lamb shahi korma. Gave the lefto... View all feedback.

This is ok good Indian food that you can get to your own spice level to order. They they go heavy on the tomato many of the recipes. I do wish that they had their buffet since it's still advertised that they have a buffet. Even when you eat in the dining, it's confusing because all of the old buffet tables and warming plates are in the dining room. I love having options at a restaurant but this place I feel has too m... View all feedback.
Now that the buffet which, in and of itself collects harmful airborne pathogens has been closed due to covid this restaurant should seriously consider upping their game! First: the decor was absolutely dismal. I was under the impression that Indians love their heritage and culture, this place sadly had absolutely nothing. Second: what was with the negligible portions, and for the price you are paying there were no leftovers, again sad.. And then there was the awful dinnerwear, it was something you would find at a gas station and the gas station would be offended, I was served a bowl of soup in something that looked like it could be leaching chemicals, yikes.!! Great presentation of food at a REASONABLE price, curb appeal and GREAT service along with beautiful ambiance ALL equal GREAT profits, and they wonder why they're barely making it when this restaurant has such potential, again sad.!
Best around. Amazing food. I do miss the buffet from before covid.
Good Indian food in the neighborhood. Like the Southern Indian items on the menu those have a very distinct flavor that keeps you wanting more.
Ordered take out for a family gathering and was very disappointed. First I want to say I'm glad they were busy and thriving in these times! Overall the best part was that a larger order was on time. Now for the not great parts: When we ordered the food we asked for them to label everything, they only labeled a few things making it hard to tell what was what. Even based on the description they gave online and what the dish looked like I'm not even sure we got the right dishes. Next we ordered everything to be a medium heat, none of the dishes were the same heat level. I would only consider one to be medium while the rest were hot or hot+. They also forgot dishes, and this has happened before! The food overall was just ok. They give you about a 16oz container of a main dish with about 3-4 small chunks of meat and a small container of rice. With prices being around $17+ for a main dish it's a bit expensive for what you get (especially when you don't get what you ordered). I did contact them about my missing food and it's been a week with no reply, very disappointing costumer service. Overall we will be looking for a different Indian restaurant.
Best Indian food I've found in Madison. I've tried many other (Swad, Haveli, Curry in the Box, etc), and none really compare. The flavors are incredible and the meat is always tender. Staff is always friendly and just great in general. I've shamefully eaten here so many times they started learning who I was, and are always welcoming and friendly.
